The Internet ... making sense of what it actually is.

SEGA Master System II

I had children in the eighties.  Game consoles were just taking off as a toy. They were a tool to interact with. .  My son had a Game-Boy and a Sega Master System console game.  Our entire family got involved with this when it was new.  It was exciting to us and we all loved the game known as Road Rash.  Many late nights were spent sitting trying to complete the levels.

When computers started to poke their noses into peoples lives as a tool of entertainment and record keeping it seemed to me a natural progression from the earlier interactive gaming consoles.

I used our families first computer we had acquired in 1998 to type stories.   It was easy to keep these and add to them.  We all played Back Gammon.  I taught my children to play on the computer.  From using the computer to play it was easier for them to move to the game in real time using a proper board.
I was thinking about all the changes we have seen in nearly 18 years of my personal use of the computer in the home and the use of the internet.  I love it.  I have seventy boxes of books I am well versed in carting around the country side in my life moving house - these days all of what is in those reference books can be sourced online.  I still would not discard the books yet or ever.  Maybe I am still caught in the old school mode - maybe I am suspicious still.

I found an article online and I found it interesting to read about the intricacies of some of the speculations and ideologies at the time when the internet was still new.  An article written back in 1999 sheds light on some of this in retrospect.  Its the looking back at this that was so very profound.

Below is an excerpt from an interesting article written on this subject.
The piece first appeared in the News Review section of the Sunday Times on August 29th 1999.

"
How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Internet" - Please go Here to read this in full.

Because the Internet is so new we still don’t really understand what it is. We mistake it for a type of publishing or broadcasting, because that’s what we’re used to. So people complain that there’s a lot of rubbish online, or that it’s dominated by Americans, or that you can’t necessarily trust what you read on the web. Imagine trying to apply any of those criticisms to what you hear on the telephone. Of course you can’t ‘trust’ what people tell you on the web anymore than you can ‘trust’ what people tell you on megaphones, postcards or in restaurants.
Working out the social politics of who you can trust and why is, quite literally, what a very large part of our brain has evolved to do. For some batty reason we turn off this natural skepticism when we see things in any medium which require a lot of work or resources to work in, or in which we can’t easily answer back – like newspapers, television or granite. Hence ‘carved in stone.

What should concern us is not that we can’t take what we read on the internet on trust – of course you can’t, it’s just people talking – but that we ever got into the dangerous habit of believing what we read in the newspapers or saw on the TV – a mistake that no one who has met an actual journalist would ever make.
One of the most important things you learn from the internet is that there is no ‘them’ out there. It’s just an awful lot of ‘us’.
 Recently, in Australia legislation around the use of the internet as a carriage service has been changed and updated and there has been new legislation introduced regarding its use.

A lot of users were used to letting it all out there, fully blasting those not liked much in the real world.  The Politicians, Church Leaders, and people had opinions on all things that got up their

noses.  We met people online with similar interests.   Groups formed.  Its been a lot of change and for in some ways these changes have been swift.

There hardly seems enough time to digest the first part let alone coming to the realization that we have to say nothing about how we feel - as big brother is watching every word we type.  Homeland Security monitors it all in the name of anti-terrorism.

I don't know where this will end up - it is extremely interactive now and all things can be done online and there is far less reason to interact with the world in real time because of this.  How this effects the general consciousness level of the planet is an exciting prospect.  There has never been such instant access to knowledge.

As if Baird ever Cared - He wants PROTECTORS jailed for Seven Years!

IMG 4981
Whitehaven Coal
Mike Baird, Premier of N.S.W wants to pass dodgy laws specifically directed to protect his mining mates in N.S.W.  This legislation is not about the people, it is about big money.   The mining which he is backing is killing our water and depleting a source of water these mining companies have no rights to and that is ground water.  None of us can live without fresh water.

Latest news on "Groundwater studies show there is a direct link to this and our Earths magnetic field that protects us from radiation."  Professor Andy Baker quotes
Other recent research has measured how the amount of water stored on land has changed. The researchers did this by measuring changes in Earth’s gravity field, using GRACE satellite data from NASA collected between 2002 and 2014.
The gravity field is affected by the amount of groundwater, as well as water in lakes and rivers, with groundwater being by far the largest of the three. Changes in the amount of this water causes small but measurable changes in the Earth’s gravity field. The data show that water stored on land has increased from 2002 to 2014.

We cannot let them keep going because this activity threatens the entire planet

People will not take this laying down.  Aboriginal people have had enough and have joined with Farmers who have had enough, young people have had enough, doctors have had enough, and mothers have definitely had enough and I am one of these and I know a lot of other mothers who had had enough four years ago.

This sort of rubbish the Baird government are trying to pass off as necessary legislation would put the likes of David Pocock behind bars.  The man stood up for what he believes in because it appeared to him like it does to a lot of us that the government are just not listening to the people. He is no criminal, he is a world famous Rugby Player.
Sending hundreds of ladies who protect peacefully by knitting off to join the ladies at Mulawa or Emu Plains Prison isn't a good look either and what will any of this prove in the long run?

I will tell you what I think it will prove.  It will prove in the end to make this situation a more serious and dire one where people put their lives on the line.   Its the plot of a very bad nightmare, ugly things are happening all over because of a few greedy faceless men in mining and politics.

The revolving door just keeps on REVOLVING for these low vibrating entities.  It is time this time wasting was stopped and we looked after the country like David Suzuki said on Triple J at on the science chat on Mornings on Triple J - he said we have to start seeing Earth as our Mother not something that can be continually exploited.

What is behind the closing down of Sydney

IMG 5654 Sydney City Traffic

"Would the last person in Sydney please turn the lights out" is a great piece of research by Matt Barrie about the NSW Governments Lock Out Policy.
Ruled by a succession of incompetent governments, everything in Sydney is now illegal- including fun.
This half witted ill thought through policy  has sent just about everyone in the entertainment and liquor business broke.

Mobile drug Test NSW

A faulty product be pushed onto the unsuspecting public.  It reminds me of the questionnaire the schools used for the safe children check.  On the same line in the same sentence you were to answer yes or no to whether you had had sex offense or drug charges.  With such ambiguity, what is one answering yes or no to exactly, and these mobile drug tests are the same.  They are throwing up false positives and the government continues to peddle this.  Because of that fact alone - its not about safety of the public on public roads, its about revenue raising how ever which way they can and this will back fire on the Government in the end and cost taxpayers.

On the brink of total control 'No Jab No Pay' Legislation passes.

Campsie Public School - small pox vaccination waiting for the lymph to dry

"No Jab No Pay", has brought out the adverse opinions of the pro vaxxers and the anti vaxxers and its become a bitter struggle about who is right in this very explosive issue.

The opinions are juxtaposed to each other out there in the public arena and the stark differences  in opinion are numerous.

Mothers and daughters are in disagreement over this and it has caused friends to part company because of such differences in opinion on the emotive subject of vaccination.

Opinions no longer matter as the Government passes 'The new No Jab, No Pay' laws (Social Services Legislation Amendment).  The bill, which passed the Senate yesterday with the support of the Coalition, Labor and The Greens, removed the payment of some tax benefits to parents who don't vaccinate their children, including those who conscientiously object to vaccination.

Originally, this law was put in place to stop paying financial benefits to parents of children up to and including the age seven (7) who were not toeing the line and complying with the Australian Government's immunization schedule but somehow the government added some sneaky amendments which means anyone under 20 years of age.  No Jab No Pay. You can be an adult and lose your benefits if you are under 20 years of age.

Read More here http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-23/jab-reax/6964108

I vaccinated my children, I was not awake as it is called now [wake up to government agenda] and I was not aware of what the legislation and future changes to this meant for us all down the track.

In my time as a young mother it was a personal choice to vaccinate your child/children.  However there was a distinct fear evident of those who had not vaccinated and I personally heard a lot of mothers saying these people were not caring for their children and had selfish ways.

I can see how this can be thought by one side of the argument but for this to be a fair argument, it also must be seen for both sides.  Both could say the same 'argument'. [selfish ways]

Personally  I am concerned this new legislation could lead to people becoming submissive to vaccinations of all types in the future with the door opening here with this No jab No Pay legislation.

There are types of controlling drugs/substances that the ruling govt of the day may think is useful to their agenda, and with legislation all citizens under law could be ordered to be vaccinated.

It is also my opinion that to tie the non vaccination to the non payment of financial benefits is a terrorist act on mothers and fathers and carers.  One has to ask the question "Whose children are they?"

People are giving up their rights so fast it has become quite significant how much of our responsibility we are handing over to governments.  So what will this look like in 20 years time when our children are the grand parents of the day?  Will People just lay down and take what the governments say is good for us with out a thought?  Yes! this is a great concern.  Why?  Because as of  the end of 2016 the Childhood Immunization Register will be simplified and is to be known as the Australian Immunisation Register.

[The purpose of the bill is to] expand the age range covered by the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) from children under seven years of age to ‘young individuals’ under 20 years of age (commencing from 1 January 2016).

Carbon Tax Gets Repealed... but what now?

~  ~

There are some of us who think that a price on carbon was ludicrous from start to finish anyway.  Taxing people when the big polluters get away with it all.  We need to be moving to renewable energy and taking our power from the sun.  By the time Australia wakes up to the reality of this we could very well be in a new ice age.

This does not mean for one second that I support Abbott or his cronies because their reason for the abolition is completely different to what mine is.  I personally cannot stand the filthy politics that has been evident over the last couple of years in this country, corrupt and contemptible, I don't know how they do sleep at night.  If I made that many poor decisions I would need sedatives.

The Rusted up Political wheel - PUP, PUPPIES or just plain DOGS!

Legislation on Carbon ...  the Palmer United Party (pup) and politics - we are steeped in interesting political times and it is very worthwhile understanding what is happening in Australia with the tax on Carbon and the tax on Mining and who is paying who and who is not paying anyone and lining their own pockets for later.  The rusty wheels in politics in Australia appear all but seized .. a bit of grease will get them going... greasing the wheels always does.

IMG 9334 Legend Cement Mixer

Australian Industry Group chief executive Innes Willox summed up their concerns:
Any further amendments intended to ensure that carbon savings are passed on should be carefully scrutinised. Amendments that drag in the broader business community would be unworkable and cause regulatory mayhem, particularly as so many businesses have absorbed the carbon price and not passed it on to their customers.
So what are parts of the PUP's amendment have caused all the confusion?
Clause 19 (60FD) states that only gas and electricity companies are liable to face fines if they don't pass on savings to consumers.
However, clause 10 has caused most of the fuss. Here, the amendment lists entities that are covered by the repeal bill's laws against price exploitation, and states:
Entity means any of the following:
(a) an individual;
(b) a body corporate;
(c) an entity sole;
(d) a body politic;
(e) a partnership;
(f) any other unincorporated association or body of entitys;
(g) a trust;
(h) any party or entity which can or does buy or sell electricity or gas
There is an expectancy now that the  Palmer United Party and the Government will vote on these amendments next week.

The Public Order and Riot Squad

Hello, Welcome to PORS.  and the Major Events and Incidents Group . . .

IMG 8001 Glenugies Black Monday

The Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) is the full-time 'riot squad' of the New South Wales Police Force. PORS is within the command of Field Operations under the Major Events and Incidents Group (MEIG) which is responsible for planning for major events such as Operation Vikings, APEC, World Youth Day and New Year's Eve celebrations.

History The New South Wales Police Force Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) is a full-time riot squad created in September 2005 becoming operational in January 2006 within the Major Events and Incidents Group Command. PORS was created as a result of Parliamentary reports into the response and handling of riots in Redfern (February 2004) and Macquarie Fields (February 2005) where command and control and resources were criticized and found to be lacking/uncoordinated.
PORS is essentially the re-creation of the defunct Tactical Response Group of the 1980s except for some differences in charter and organisation. They are supplemented by State-wide based part-time Operations Support Group units.
In 2009 the squad was featured in an episode of 60 Minutes titled 'Brute Force' showing officers in action across Sydney.

Equipment

PORS are issued with a wide variety of specialised crowd control and riot equipment including Taser weapons and fully equipped black vans and black 4WDs to allow rapid deployment across the State at a moments notice. The vans allow a team in full tactical/riot gear to deploy on the move and access equipment as needed quickly, without need to return to a station to access gear as the part-time Public Order and Operations Support Group (OSG) officers do. PORS also have a $600,000 water cannon truck which is fitted with an airtight cabin to protect police from smoke, gas and other irritants. It also has shatterproof "anti-bandit glass" reinforced with wire mesh, and a heavy push bar allowing it to clear barricades and other obstacles. The high pressure 12,000 litre water cannon is able to shoot a stream of water more than 50 metres.
Each officer is equipped with more than $8500 in gear including flameproof overalls, bulletproof vest, ballistic goggles, arm and leg guards, capsicum spray, an Asp baton, long baton, utility knife, handcuffs and cable tie flex-cuffs.

Roles

The Public Order and Riot Squad, currently commanded by Chief Superintendent Steve Cullen, specialise in:
  • riot control/response;
  • search warrants;
  • searches for missing persons;
  • crowd control;
  • bomb search;
  • disaster victim identification;
  • response to major chemical biological and radiological (CBR) incidents;
  • performing disaster victim identification duties and manpower support; and
  • assisting general duties Police whenever a rapid co-ordinated response is needed at incidents such as brawls or street parties.
PORS role also includes attending major public protests and demonstrations, assisting with searches for evidence, people, property and drugs and canvassing witnesses during large-scale investigations. The unit also clears cells, transfers inmates and performs other security duties during industrial disputes at the State's prisons.
PORS also provide core officers for Operation Vikings. Operation Vikings was designed to provide a highly visible police presence across New South Wales . Large numbers of Police are deployed to these operations, targeting antisocial behaviour, alcohol-related crime, street level drug possession and traffic offences in known trouble (or "hot") spots
