CHRIS FISHER - Musician, Song Writer , Earth Warrior and Troubadour of the Planet

Recently a musician friend of mine introduced me to Chris Fisher from the Northern Rivers.  I was already interested if Matthew thinks his work is great stuff because his standards are awesome.   He also appears on Songs from Bentley and therefore the man has a heart and a brain and he has not been persuaded by the establishment elite.

I received a package in the mail of four CD's for Melonpop Drive (my radio show) Melonpop Drive / 2bbb Community Radio.   Live streaming HERE
The Album Blurb is a great description of the music so far ....  Chris is standing up for the Mother and we salute him for this.  The Earth is smiling when he starts to serenade her.

New Work
Outstanding and evocative new album: 'Singin' for Change' Chris's 4th independent release.

Singin for Change

All About Chris Fisher and his work taken from his FACEBOOK PAGE - Chris Fisher
Folk'n Roots Singer/Songwriter, musician & producer.

Biography
Outstanding Singer/Songwriter and musician Chris Fisher has an original sound with country, folk, blues, rock and reggae influences. With evocative vocals and arrangements Fisher has been contemporary and definably Australian during his extensive career as a performer and recording artist.

Fisher manages to combine environmental and political themes with intensely personal songs, ideology with a strong sense of personal perception, and a talent for making popular music with an interesting and fresh approach to his musicality.

Living in the rainbow region of Northern NSW Australia, an area increasingly known for its quality original artists, Fisher is a popular and regularly performer from Byron Bay to Nimbin. Fisher has produced and released three Cd's and received national and international accolades for his songwriting and singing talents.

Recent works include collaborations with Marcelle Townsend-Cross as 'Monkey & the Fish', releasing their debut CD 'In Cahoots' and performing locally and at festivals. 'In Cahoots' includes the track 'Bundjalung'.

Bundjalung is the Aboriginal Nation now known as N.E. NSW. This song was written, recorded and produced in collaboration with Bundjalung Peoples; Custodians of the ancient language and culture of this special part of Australia. (see fruitbatmusic.com for more info')

Career highlights include winning 8 North Coast Entertainment Industry Dolphin Awards, 4 of which recognise his considerable skill in writing Environmental Message songs, others for Country & Folk Compositions and Song of the Year for the collaborative work: 'Bundjalung'.

He has also received a Dolphin award for best Male Vocal. Fisher has also won prizes in the South Pacific International Song Contest, and high rankings in National Song competitions.

His most recent accolade was in 2008 for a ballad titled 'Milk & Honey Melody' from his 'Green Hearts' Cd which has recently been re-released through Fruit Bat Music.

Performance highlights
include gigs at Australia's major festivals including Woodford, Port Fairy and Nation Folk Festivals, the Gympy Country Music Muster and two grand final appearances in the coveted ‘Star Maker’ quest at Tamworth's Country Music Festival.

An engaging entertainer and maturing artist who has been singing up respect for our mother earth and her peoples and the need for action to look after our environment for 20 years.

Fisher studied ecology and environmental management at James Cook University in Nth Queensland and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. Later studies included Contemporary music and Indigenous Australian history and issues at Southern Cross University.

Currently Chris is completing a Masters degree which draws on both his scientific and artistic experience. His work promotes the values and use of song in developing methodologies for Qualitative Inquiry.

Chris Fisher’s lyrics and message speak to and reflect the hearts and minds of many peoples, the rhythm of song moving beneath any cultural and language barrier, allowing a common celebration in hearing this critical, passionate and positive voice in the chorus for a better future.

DROP the GAME .... a song to AGL.

IMG 5701
Your the heat that I know you see you are my son!
And here is a wonderful song tribute from two of my favorites who have teamed up together to give us and EP of their music.  Below is the track I played on my radio show today.

This is the most awesome lyrics

Soto keep you singing along while you listen... here they are too...  I just love Chet Fakers voice, it is so exorbitantly free ranging .. An Eco Friendly Frack -Free - Range Voice!

Gosh I like that!

DROP THE GAME / FLUME & CHET FAKER

I've been SEEING ALL,
I've been seeing YOUR SOUL
Give me things that I wanted to know
Tel me THINGS THAT YOU'VE DONE
I've been feeling old,
I've been feeling cold
You're THE HEAT THAT I KNOW
See, you are my sun

Hush, I said there's more to life than rush
Not gonna leave this place with us
DROP THE GAME, it's not enough
Hush, I said there's more to life than rush
Not gonna leave this place with us
DROP THE GAME, it's not enough

I've been SEEING ALL,
I've been seeing YOUR SOUL
Give me things that I wanted to know
Tel me THINGS THAT YOU'VE DONE
I've been feeling old,
I've been feeling cold
You're THE HEAT THAT I KNOW
See, you are my sun

I've been SEEING ALL,
I've been seeing YOUR SOUL
Give me things that I wanted to know
Tel me THINGS THAT YOU'VE DONE
I've been feeling old,
I've been feeling cold
You're THE HEAT THAT I KNOW
 See, you are my sun

I've been SEEING ALL,
I've been seeing YOUR SOUL
Give me things that I wanted to know
Tel me THINGS THAT YOU'VE DONE
I've been feeling old,
I've been feeling cold
You're THE HEAT THAT I KNOW
See, you are my sun.

SAM 8096 Mem Hall Bellingen
Memorial Hall Bellingen NSW
Bellingen Memorial Hall in Hyde Street Bellingen, what a wonderful venue for a party for a radio station.  I am sure this would have been perfect

I wanted to go but found I couldn't go alone as usual.  I miss out on so much being disabled this way.  It is my own doing and I will undo this the best I can.  Perhaps it is the memories that bring me undone and this is why I cannot face things alone.

Montana and myself on air at 2bbb
I would have loved to have attended this with Montana and anyone that Montana cared to bring along to help celebrate this most awesome occasion.  I lifted a drink at home instead and thought about everyone having fun up at the Mem Hall.  I was there in spirit because my thoughts were there.

Drill Rig heads down highway to Gloucester

We act fast around this neck of the woods.

I got a quick message from up north near Corindi that the rig was seen moving down the Pacific Highway.  I threw my camera in the car along with Ceceila sign and off I went and Carol and her hubby  joined me on the bridge and in five more minutes Joe was there also.  We got so much attention and this was evident of the horns beeping and lights flashing and thumbs up and cheers from drivers driving past.  We were noticed that is for sure.

Sadly we missed the rig.  Not our fault though as we really had no idea of this.  But we did put in an effort that a lot of Australians driving through Urunga saw and were reminded of the horror going on where most never see.

This rig was on its way to Gloucester south of here in the top of the Hunter Valley.  This land is prime farm land and it appears a lot do not want this but they are a very conservative bunch.  I fear the knitting nanas need to go on the road to make the older generation wake up from their slumber.  AGL are not going to  be nice when this kicks off!
