Horses moved out to Yarralumla to the Equestrian Centre.

Lots of people broke camp along with the Franklins and went on to Yarralumla.  We and a few others decided to stay at Hall where we were for a number of reasons.

One being Suzanne's vehicle needed some repairs and secondly there were some other ladies staying and one with children so we decided to stay on with them.  A great decision too.   We prepared ourselves for the next day at the Parliament House and what we had all came to Canberra for.    WATER!!

Catching up with the Franklin's Woop Woop March

We left Leards Forest this morning and headed east and if the universe was with us we would catch up with the Franklins Ride to Canberra. They are doing this to tell politicians that Water is our most precious resource on the planet. We had a long hot drive but we caught up with them at Aberdeen in the Upper Hunter region of NSW. They had not long arrived and the horses were having a lovely swim and a drink in the river while Mick and Donna went to get hay for them at the produce store in town. They were was much laughter and frivolity when they arrived back to see visitors at camp and friendly faces from home.

FRANKLINS - Woop Woop March.
The entire Crew / horses and riders
Kathy and I  sat and had a bottle of coca-cola of all things, and we had one large bottle each too. We were that hot and dry from being out at Boggarbri, we drank the entire contents of both bottles we purchased and we perhaps could have had more even.

I took photos of everyone and we laughed a lot and told them of our travels out west and they swapped their riding stories with us.   Needless to say, their trip has been beautiful and slow.   This way you see things you  would never see going as fast as most travel these days.

The Woop Woop March is planning on arriving into Canberra at the end of November this year to greet the politicians and while they are there the horses are staying at the Equestrian Centre at Canberra and probably going to be spoiled I hope.

We said good bye to them all at dusk because we still had a fair way to travel.   We had left it a little late really and now we would  traverse this difficult Barrington Tops road in the dark.

They are staying here for two nights and letting the horses have a good rest and good feed and then the crew are heading to Sandy Hollow.

Franklins Arrive in Nundle on the ride to Canberra!

The Franklins have arrived in Nundle.  The  horses are on a well earned rest now.   This has been  affectionately known as "The Woop Woop March or  Ride.   They are a  group of Grafton locals on a clean water crusade to Canberra.
Heading into Nundle now they're almost half way through an 8 week trek along the Bicentennial National Trail, most on horseback and two support vehicles.

Mick said there is some pretty rugged country they have traversed and he also said he came across some creeks and water ways that you just can't drink from at all.  There are small communities all along the way and all have issues in their various backyards they are attempting to deal with.

The Woop Woop March will meet with The Australian Minister for the Environment,  Hon. Greg Hunt MP  and   the Hon. Ian Macfarlane MP. the Minister for Industry in Canberra in Late November when they arrive at the National Capital.

While in Canberra the Horses will be staying at the National Equestrian Centre.  People are welcome to Join them ...  I will be joining them and I will be taking mail to them from the BELLINGEN SHIRE to Canberra to say what we know about water and to advocate for the water in a letter.

This is one of the Franklin's beautiful horses,  I think his name is Gary ...  there are ten horses and five riders.  Two woman riding and one is Jan and that is so wonderful indeed.
