THE FORCED CLOSURE OF MATAGARUP  -  National Day of Action

Today in Bellingen people from across the shire were extremely vocal about the genocidal government policies responsible for closing remote aboriginal communities and the cultural suicide this practice has already shown to cause. People were vocal regarding the audacity of the Abbott to speak of Culture as a lifestyle choice (Flying from Sydney to Canberra for work is a lifestyle choice).

Thank goodness the shire has such a high number of people who are aware of the ongoing atrocities on culture which are largely reported on in a false nature in Lamestream media. We send our condolences to the communities that have been bulldozed flat and the ease at which governments can extinguish thousands of years of knowledge and lore and then have no conscience alarm these decisions actually constitute Genocide. Shame on them but props to those that stood today in solidarity with heart.

The crowd were energetic to show solidarity and so proceeded to march fair up the main street of Bellingen blocking Waterfall Way in both directions east and west.

This was not a planned move by the those standing up for Western Australia, it just happened.  It was fine and not trouble erupted from this decision and a lot of shop keepers were caught off guard by the noisy street demonstration.

New Matilda: 'Refugee Camp' For Aboriginal People Moved Off Remote Communities Ordered To Close

https://newmatilda.com/2015/03/13/refugee-camp-aboriginal-people-moved-r...

13 Mar 15: "Pressure is being placed on a Perth camp established to give shelter to Aboriginal people forced off their land by the Barnett government. Amy McQuire reports. ... Nyoongar activist Marianne McKay told New Matilda last week "this is how we feel as Aboriginal people. We feel like refugees in our own country". A spokeswoman for the city of Perth told ABC that camping was not permitted under the island’s local laws. But Ms McKay told New Matilda last week that the state’s heritage laws mean protesters have a right to be there to undertake traditional practices." 3 Mar 15:

"As the appointed Ambassador of the original Aboriginal Embassy, the Convenor of the Sovereign Union and Head of State, Euahlayi Peoples Republic, I herewith bring to your attention the humanitarian crisis that has now developed in the state of Western Australia. This crisis is a consequence of the Western Australian government's policy of shutting down up to 150 Aboriginal homelands and communities, which they have wrongly stated to be financially 'unsustainable' and economically unviable. We regard these actions as an an act of war and aggression against the various tribal Nations in Western Australia.

Already we have seen the Lockridge Aboriginal community in Perth bulldozed with impunity after the Commonwealth government of Australia had just completed building new dwellings. The people are homeless and have now crowded into other family homes creating massive overcrowding, which leads to family confrontation and lateral violence that affects not only children but adults alike.

In the northern part of Western Australia the Aboriginal community of Oombulgurri was progressively closed down: First, the government closed the services. ... then eventually the electricity and water were turned off. Finally, the 10 residents who resolutely stayed to the end were forcibly evicted, ...

I call upon Your Excellency to make this humanitarian crisis known throughout the world. Furthermore, we ask that Your Excellency assist in the immediate provision of safeguards and protection of the refugee camp and to provide appropriate aid for the health and well-being of the refugees. ... "Media Impotence" is thrust into the Limelight.

IMG 6234
Flag bound horse rider from Grafton NSW at Parliament House

"They Came For The Abbott Spill, And Missed The Only Real Story In Town" By Amy McQuire from the New Matilda

Canberra often has an air of unreality about it. But it's only when a circus comes to town that the media's impotence is really exposed. Amy McQuire reports.

Read the Complete Article here at the New Matilda.com

It was the "Cock Up" that wouldn't go away.   The two words, "Cock up and impotence"  is the norm  in Canberra.  I am referring to the endless talk fests and useless policies which get legislated.

During the past couple of months, Canberra's old Parliament house lawns, the site of the original 1974 Tent Embassy has been home for hundreds of indigenous Australians.  Some people have camped on and off since its inception in 1974.

This latest influx are people who want "answers".  They are Sovereign people's who have had their entire lives monitored and ruined by many levels of uncaring, unhelpful, disjointed government.  This never ever ceased and for some it is a nightmare as long as their living  memory serves them.
The Genocide has continued for this nations Aboriginal people.  The desert  communities that are closed due to the basic services being turned off is a  new edition to the already numerous chapters of  the 'Book of Madness' this government appears to take its cues from.

Abbott is the most frightful Prime Minister to date, the polls prove it.  This is not just my opinion here.  The world thinks he is a goose and reports often on this.   So, here we have the complete commercial media reporting on the said  goose and around the corner appear a very vocal, gigantic contingent of flag waving, banner holding indigenous Australia's.

Megaphones in hand, this serious bunch of people (sovereigns) were in Canberra representing themselves and the elders and custodians of hundreds of aboriginal nations across this land.  (been there for months)

Oh what a shock this must have been for the lame stream media circus and their performing clowns. (hosts)

I found that part the most humorous.  'Genocide' is never funny.   Lame stream media definitely are.

They simply had no idea this enormous group were 'InSitu' in Canberra.  The media were very obviously completely unaware of basic facts.  No one had told them that a few hundred meters away, just down the road down the tree lined avenue from their sterile O.B. space, was a makeshift city swelling by the hour of aboriginal people who want justice and who want media air time.

It goes without saying that media doesn't report on these issues.  This time they had absolutely no choice, they had to.

Clive Palmer's interview on the 'Abbott Liberal leadership Spill' is drowned out by hundreds of protesting aboriginal people.  Koch and Sam were in shock and Karl Stefanovic proved he is a liar,  promising the protestors he would speak with them at 11.00 when he got 'off'.   Got off being the operative word here, he did the deed and disappeared. He subsequently vanished into thin air minus talking to anyone and this was clearly a media ploy to buy peace by Channel Nine.

This story of surprize was beamed across the planet. The rest of the world laughed out very loud (lol) as they saw the real truth unfold.  Frenzied reports were posted across media as the Australian commercial media and illegal Australian parliament were caught with their pants down and their hand on 'it'.

The Tabling of the BIG BAN Petition against Csg in Australia.

The Big Ban Petition was the brain storm and hard work of Jennifer Schoelpple.  The idea sprang  to life and went Australia wide.  Jennifer crossed all the 'T's and dotted her 'I's with precision so that  this petition was absolutely inline with the petitions committee and was a correct legal document.

IMG 6566
Jennifer and Radha in Sydey with the petition
There has been much discussion regarding the legality of petitions by others around us all in the movement against gas mining and at the moment these types of "correct" petitions still carry the correct weight in the parliamentary stakes.  If you want to get this tabled in parliament you must adhere to the strict petition rules to wit.

So with stocks of printed petitions we hit the streets.  We are ordinary people who care.  People who Jennifer trusted and people who she knew would support her to bring this action to fruition.  We were passionate in our cause.  We need to see this industry completely  banned, there is no safe place for this type of mining in Australia.

IMG 7689
Signing the Petition at Wingham Town Hall
There have been so many times we have talked to countless numbers of  people over the past months.  Discussions explaining the serious nature of this type of mining  and the risks to the aquifers by contamination.  The industry itself providing plenty of material from which to draw from on a daily basis - re spills and corruption.

We have actively educated other citizens regarding the lies and the corruption  evident between the revolving doors of politics and mining.

I take great pleasure in  pointing out the politicians who have taken the cushy mining CEO positions as well as drawing a government pension after leaving politics and after setting up the mining deals while they were in public office.

IMG 8119 Big Ban Petition Handover
Dr David Gillespie with the Petitions and looking at our signs.
The hard work  of collecting the signatures came to a head last weekend in Port Macquarie.

We gathered  as a very concerned and passionate group of people specifically to present the petitions (thousands) to Dr David Gillespie.

Dr Gillespie is  the sitting Member for Lyne.  We organized the handover to occur at the Port Macquarie Airport as Dr Gillespie was catching his Canberra flight from there.  He flew down to Canberra for his sitting in parliament, reason we wanted this on his lips as he left our area.

He was somewhat taken by surprize by the amount of people there waiting for him and the media attention this drew around him.  He appeared a little nervous and his answers to media questions regarding Coal Seam Gas Mining were weak and stodgy with no emphasis at all on the important issues of water.

He discussed economic benefits as apposed to looking at the environmental concerns that are far more serious.  I didn't hear anything that alluded to banning the industry.

Dr Gillespie said “As the Federal Member I am happy to table or present petitions to the Parliament on behalf of my constituents if requested, regardless of my own views on the broad range of topics that are canvassed across the political spectrum.”

Dr Gillespie transported the petitions to Canberra from Port Macquarie.

Just before 11.00am he tabled these said petitions in the Upper House, below is film of him doing this (via Peter Deane)

Larissa Waters was tabling the Petitions for the Senate, at least she made a firm promise to do this and so there is no concern to whether it will happen or not.

IMG 6070 Suzanne and Kathy and Larissa Waters
Suzanna, Kathy and Larissa Waters at Parliament House Canberra
The next step after this is to petition the NSW State governments and all of the various State Governments around Australia with the very same petition regarding this type of mining in Australia.

Well done to everyone who helped to bring this petition to the Parliament of Australia to effect the kind of change we need to protect our environment for our children's futures.

Comment from Jennifer regarding the process :
"It goes on Hansard as a record that we have requested an immediate moratorium on unconventional gas and a total national ban (this being the ONLY petition to have approached it Nationally) and we now go about getting the 10,000 in as many states and territories as possible (we will try to get a person or committee in each one to oversee it) and then we can demand a 20 min debate in the legislative assembly in all those states.

These will also be the ONLY petitions to demand state/territory wide bans as all other petitions, as far as I know, have been site specific (only interested in a particular area/region) which - if effective - would do nothing more than to ease pressure in that area and force more on other areas. Not acceptable, as far as I'm concerned. NOWHERE should be forced to tolerate this industry for myriad reasons.

Agreed?

Anne Thompson responds to disparaging Letters to the Editor in Northern Star.

IMG 3968 Franklins Ride to Canberra
Anne Thompson leading one of the Franklin Horses heading to Canberra *

Anne Thompson has worked tirelessly against the Gas coming into the Northern Rivers, she has been instrumental in organizing fund raising situations to fund studies on the water etc around Tara in Queensland where many families are just plain sick.  We all know it is because of the Gas but we have to prove this with independent testing of the water and this is an expensive exercise to say the least.  Our governments should be heading up this in the favor of the people but instead they favor the large corporations putting profit before people.

Anne said:  "Some of you might have seen the following comment in Saturday's Weekend Star, by someone who frequently uses the name 'Because Im Batman.'

In any case I am sure you will be interested to read 'Batman's' query and my letter of response to the Northern Star with a copy to the Echo

"This time last year the No Gas Rig Gig raised $10000 to test Brian Monk's children and grandchildren for the effects of CSG. Where are those results? What happened to the money? It does not take one year for results. Gasgield Free Northern Rivers please explain?
Because Im Batman, The Risk"

Letter to the Editor.
In response to the query by someone calling himself ‘BecauseimBatman’ (W/E Star 22/2/14)as to the money raised for health testing of the people up in Tara and Kogan on the Western Darling Downs where families are surrounded by gas fields, I have just done a trip up there as part of a committee administering these funds.

This is the 5th trip I have made for various reasons and each time the situation gets more dire. People are getting sicker and now they are mostly out of water. In desperation some have used their dam water for bathing, but this causes rashes as does bore water. Most drinking water has to be bought. When it rains some will need reverse osmosis filters because of contaminants. Mysterious substances cover surfaces and obviously get washed into water tanks. (As per attachment which shows the substance on a corrugated roof and where it has drained into the gutter and caused corrosion.)

Brian Monk was unable to come to the meeting as he was too unwell, but he tells me that all residents who have been tested to date, including himself, have shown chemicals of concern in their urine, with the exception of one. The samples contained Hippuric acid (the main metabolite of Toluene)along with varying combinations of phenol, cresol, PAH and methyl ethyl ketone. Tank water testing (which was funded from another source)in some cases showed extremely acidic pH and concerning levels of heavy metals as well as radio-activity. All these chemicals Brian Monk says are linked to gas extraction and can clearly be linked to the neurological condition that his little grandson suffers from. It is also in keeping with other symptoms suffered by many of the children, such as bleeding noses, eye irritation and breathing difficulties etc.

IMG 2331
Annette and Brian with GFK back

The testing is ongoing and takes time. When people are sick, the last thing they want to do is travel for hours to be tested, bearing in mind the extreme distances out there. It was decided at last Tuesday’s meeting that what funds are left should also be used for purchasing RO filters for tank water and for the cost of testing the water. Funds can also be used for buying tanked water from Chinchilla, although there is resistance to this because gas industry produced water is pumped into the weir – even if it is treated.

I hope this information puts Mr Batman’s mind at rest, but if not, then please feel free to continue some independent testing – something that the industry and the Queensland Health Dept. do not seem keen to do.

Sincerely,
Anne Thompson,
Eltham.

* Franklin Horses

The Franklins set off from Sth Grafton with nine horses and rode to Canberra to tell the politicians Water is the most precious resource.   Only the Greens and Bob Katter received them.  It was a heroic effort by the entire team.  It was hardly reported in the flat earth media.  Orders from above no doubt.  Yes I think they are told NOT TO REPORT!

Franklins Arrive in Nundle on the ride to Canberra!

The Franklins have arrived in Nundle.  The  horses are on a well earned rest now.   This has been  affectionately known as "The Woop Woop March or  Ride.   They are a  group of Grafton locals on a clean water crusade to Canberra.
Heading into Nundle now they're almost half way through an 8 week trek along the Bicentennial National Trail, most on horseback and two support vehicles.

Mick said there is some pretty rugged country they have traversed and he also said he came across some creeks and water ways that you just can't drink from at all.  There are small communities all along the way and all have issues in their various backyards they are attempting to deal with.

The Woop Woop March will meet with The Australian Minister for the Environment,  Hon. Greg Hunt MP  and   the Hon. Ian Macfarlane MP. the Minister for Industry in Canberra in Late November when they arrive at the National Capital.

While in Canberra the Horses will be staying at the National Equestrian Centre.  People are welcome to Join them ...  I will be joining them and I will be taking mail to them from the BELLINGEN SHIRE to Canberra to say what we know about water and to advocate for the water in a letter.

This is one of the Franklin's beautiful horses,  I think his name is Gary ...  there are ten horses and five riders.  Two woman riding and one is Jan and that is so wonderful indeed.

The Franklin's Ride to Canberra Begins..

A beautiful day to set off on horseback for such a worth it cause or reason.  These guys are riding to Canberra to tell them down there that we all appose this type of mining and that water is by far the most precious resource that we have on the planet.

IMG 3992 Franklins Leave for Canberra
The Guys saddled up and ready to go
Many more people turned up on the morning to wish them well on this most auspicious occasion. I felt very proud to know these people and to be apart of everything to date to help fight this scourge that has been forced upon us all.

What happened to KRUDDY today?

Today was a strange day in politics.  It was rumored there would be a leadership spill and that Julia would be getting toppled.  I heard about it from all differing sources all week.   Today in the party room Julia stood and was victorious 71 -73 votes after former Labor leader Simon Crean showed his hand and then was sacked for his efforts.
A lot of us are in shock at this result because we want her gone.

English: Kevin Rudd, 26th Prime Minister of Au...
Has it occurred to the masses that we never voted for her and therefore she is not our intended leader. Kevin Rudd was the man Australia voted for.  Why he doesn't get the numbers in the party is a direct indication that the politicians do not support the people and the people's views.  If they did represent us all  this would have been a differing result in the  Party room numbers and Kevin would now be our Prime Minister.
English: Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gil...
Julia is a quasi woman,  one who is just not quite one but shows some female attributes.  Like a desire to play with her hair color.  Don't let the pretty colors fool you.  Just like the Popes wear RED Slippers to signify the slaughterings ( Sacrifices)  Julia Gillard wears her hair as red as she can to symbolize that she is up to her ear holes in the slaughter of ordinary Australians and their peaceful way of life.

I personally would like to see a RUDD versus HOCKEY parliament.  I think they are both reasonable people and would make fair political opponents as well

The CSG Calvary are here!

IMG 6873 Glenugie Action against Csg
The federal government is set to boost its environmental powers in a surprise move today which could stop coal-seam gas (CSG) mining and exploration dead in its tracks around Australia.

At the Federal Cabinet meeting in Canberra a decision was made to use the trigger under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act to assess CSG projects.

North coast MPs Janellle Saffin (Lismore) and Justine Elliot (Richmond) have already been briefed on the changes by Environment Minister Tony Burke.

The Lock the Gate Alliance, which has campaigned for federal intervention ahead of the September election, has welcomed the latest move.

Alliance president Drew Hutton applauded the proposed federal intervention as ‘a very good first step’ but said the government could do more.

Greens leader Christine Milne said ‘the old parties need to wake up to the fact that the protection of agricultural land and water is critical in an age of food security’.
