Armidale Action

Glen and I covered a huge array of topics concerning coal seam gas mining and mining in general.  We played a few momentous tunes but basically the show was taken up hugely with discussion and what important discussion there was as well.
The important things discussed were the Hillgrove mine east of Armidale and west of Dorrigo

Watching these videos and not being swayed by the mainstream media push to say that this type of mining is fine for everyone. It is not fine and it is very destructive.

YARRABAH Nth Queensland

Yarrabah 2-2

Yarrabah in about 30 miles by road from Cairns and situated on Cape Grafton.  It is an Aboriginal Community and in the 2006 Census there was a population of 2,371.  The Yarrabah area was originally inhabited by the Gungganydji people.

Interior of Rev. Ernest Gribble's church at the Yarrabah Mission, North Queensland, 1899

Description: Gable-roofed church with mud floors at the Yarrabah Mission in Queensland.

What happened?  The Anglican Church happened!  Earnest Gribble set up a mission and through lies and deceit he managed to convince the people to move there around 1893.
Excerpt from Courier Mail 22 May 1908
Aboriginal Marriages.
If marriages were regulated in the general community as they are in the Yarrabah Mission Settlement there would, perhaps be fewer people ready to declare that marriage is a failure.
From the “Aboriginal News”, a paper published monthly in connection with the mission. We learn that "a new rule has just been passed by the court which deals with marriage.

Persons wishing to marry, and having obtained the consent of the head of the mission, must, after banns have been published, produce for the court a written report as to conduct and character, from the persons under whom they have lived and worked for the last three months.

The court will also decide whether the persons have been doing a fair share in the daily work of the mission."
In 1957, the Yarrabah residents staged a strike to protest poor working conditions, inadequate food, health problems and harsh administration. The church expelled the ringleaders and many others left voluntarily, never to return.

A few years later, the Government of Queensland assumed control of the mission.  In 1965, an advisory council was set up which allowed Aboriginals to give "advice" to the Department of Aborigines, but it had no actual power and the government continued to control all aspects of the people's lives.

In 1979, several community members joined a union but were stood down.

Eventually, on 27 October 1986, the community received Deed of Grant in Trust land tenure, making it subject to the Community Services (Aborigines) Act 1984, which allowed for self-governing Aboriginal Community Councils with a range of powers and controls over the land. With the passage of reforms in 2005, the Council became an "Aboriginal Shire" and gained the authority of a legal local government.

On 23 July 2007, Yarrabah hosted the Cabinet of the Queensland Government in the first ever Cabinet meeting to be held in an indigenous Australian community.

On 1 October 2007, the Howard Coalition Government chose Yarrabah as the first recipient of what was said to be a 'landmark housing and welfare reform agreement'
This is called a DOGIT = Deed of Grant in Trust.

What is a DOGIT besides Dodgy..  Nothing its all dodgy.  There is too much room for corruption by one brother against another brother.  Money has a strange way of doing this to people.  The elections are dodgy and everyone says its rigged.  So that constitutes dodgy to me. The other question I would ask is where are those Anglicans?   The church expelled the ringleaders and many others left voluntarily, never to return.

This is the Government using a corrupt system as an example of how other corrupt systems are going to be metered out.  I wonder how Yarrabah stands with the  "Stronger Futures Legislation"?

GROCAN and FULLERTON COVE Csg & Work Blockades! SERIOUS Stuff!

Riot Squads from the Police TRG Squad turned up to Fullerton Cove yesterday to shut the protesting residents down.  I am sure there were many disgusted residents on hand to stand against such appalling treatment of residents.  People who know they are not criminals and people who are just trying to be good parents.  I ask the police, all of them on duty attending, is this what you want for your children is it?
You want your children to have the serious side effects from this mining like the children of Tara Queensland?

AND A SETwitter: Follow our reporter Michelle Ainsworth at the sceneRIOUS POSTSCRIPT EVOLVES HERE BELOW AT MELBOUNE'S CBD!

Commander Nugent said there were reports of horses being punched during the blockade.
HUNDREDS of union workers have faced off against police at the Myer construction site in Melbourne's CBD. Grocon protestAt its peak about 500 workers were at the city site on the corner of Swanston and Lonsdale streets, facing off against about 200 police in riot gear and on horseback.
The workers in fluoro confronted from 7am, near the scene of a blockade at the $250 million Emporium Melbourne construction project at the former Myer building.

Members of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) have been protesting at the Grocon site since last Wednesday, and a Fair Work Australia hearing yesterday failed to end the dispute.
Grocon has offered to let the CFMEU elect shop stewards from current employees but has refused to allow outsiders key roles.
Four police officers were trampled as the dispute escalated this morning.

Victoria Police Commander Rick Nugent said officers were forced to use capsicum spray to help their colleagues to safety.
He said the violent scuffle lasted up to 10 minutes after the illegal blockade prevented Grocon employees getting to work today.  He slammed the behaviour of protesters who punched the horses.  "It's pretty poor if that's what they are resorting to," he said.

But CFMEU state secretary Bill Oliver said "there was no violence here today". "Yes there might have been a bit of panic ... some workers had capsicum spray in the face," he said. He denied members hit police horses.  "If a horse was coming at you, you have to put your hands up to defend yourself,” he said.
Grocon protest"There was no confrontation. They were pushing the horses back...to stop being trampled."  "It’s about construction workers going to a job and not being stood over”.

Police from the public order response team, operational response unit, mounted police and uniform members were called in to help get Grocon workers to the site.  Police defended the use of the capsicum spray and Commander Nugent said it was to get the members off the ground that were under the feet of protesters.  “Unfortunately the number of union members present was so great that we couldn’t safely assist the Grocon workers onto the work site and for the safety of the police, Grocon workers and also the union members were retreated from the situation,” he said.

Police will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day and are assessing plans for tomorrow.
Commander Nugent said Grocon formally asked for police assistance on Friday but said the State Government made no contact with police.  He said police would review CCTV footage and make a decision if any arrests would be made.

Grocon protestThe Master Builders Association has also hit out at CFMEU workers who clashed with police.  Master Builders Australia CEO Wilhelm Harnisch said the union’s actions were reprehensible.
“The law must be changed. Conduct where individuals are vilified and intimidated should be met with harsh consequences,” Mr Harnisch said.  “The CFMEU’s behaviour is grossly unacceptable in any civilised society. It demonstrates how the current industrial relations framework can be exploited by the unions.
“The bullying tactics displayed by the CFMEU vindicates the building industry’s call for the return of the Australian Building and Construction Commission and dedicated industry-specific laws which target unlawful and intimidatory conduct.”  “The building and construction industry needs a regulator with stronger laws to help curb militant unions and stop unlawful industrial action.”

Grocon protestThe confrontation died down about 9am, with hundreds of workers leaving the scene following the clashes.  Scores of tram commuters and drivers have faced delays in the city, with roads shut down.
However, Lonsdale Street has since reopened between Swanston St and Elizabeth St.  At one stage, at least seven trams were banked up on the corner of Lonsdale and Swanston streets.  Union protesters linked arms and stood nose to nose with police horses after an extra 200 workers arrived at the protest about 7.15am.  Hundreds of union members from city construction sites also tried to join the clash.

Joining the Union in Bellingen 2012

I just came back from wandering. Taking long walks or going on long journeys don't seem to make an iota of difference.

View from Lodge 241, Bellingen

Was I ever a mother? Being caught inside of this senselessness, it seems so much like a frightening movie
. The soundtrack isn't well written either. If only I could be somewhere else because I only exist inside of this loneliness of missing the people I loved the most ever! I grieve the loss of my children I grew inside of me and nursed at my breast for so long, and I am told "Dont Cry"! Why? Why is it so abnormal to cry for the ones you love and for what you grieve for and to endure a pain of loss so immense, it's all consuming and it scares me to death.

THERE IS NO TRUTH, THERE IS ONLY PERCEPTION.

Truth is unchanging, like the elephant, but how one approaches the truth will change ones perception of it.

SAM 8046 Urunga Antiques & Collectables.

Things are never quite as they seem.  There is always more to the truth of a matter.  We all have our perceptions of the truth and that is dependent upon how we see a situation and the messages it sends to our brains.  There is always two sides to the story and the truth is somewhere in between.

The Antique Shop in the Industrial Area of Urunga is a secret that needs to be spoken about and then it will be a popular place once the shire realizes the secret hiding there.

The story of the six blind men and the elephant.

Each of the blind men stand in front of the elephant and attempt to determine what an elephant looks like by feeling different parts of the elephant's body. The blind man who feels a leg says the elephant is like a pillar; the one who feels the tail says the elephant is like a rope; the one who feels the trunk says the elephant is like a tree branch; the one who feels the ear says the elephant is like a hand fan; the one who feels the belly says the elephant is like a wall; and the one who feels the tusk says the elephant is like a solid pipe.

The king explains to them:

“You are all right. The reason each one of you is telling it differently is because you have all touched a different part of the elephant. The elephant has all of the features you mentioned.”

This is supposed to resolve the conflict, and the story is used to illustrate the principle that truth can be stated in different ways. We feel, however, that this tale is better used to demonstrate how humans are stuck, not in their misunderstanding of what the truth is, but in the way that they approach the truth. If each of these men would have kept their hands moving and continued their search until they were reasonably sure that they had observed the entire elephant, none of them would have given such a silly description. And this is often the way humans approach things, they draw conclusions too quickly before having a whole picture.

Humans are lazy when it comes to searching for the truth and too often stop at the first glance, or in the case of the blind men and the elephant, at first touch. The second mistake that these men make, which is mirrored by humans, is that they do not communicate with one another to find out what the others are discovering. If two findings contradict one another then the search is not over. These men could have communicated with one another and shown the various parts to one another in order for them all to have a better idea of what an elephant actually looks like.

Had these men kept looking, and communicated with one another, all six of them would have had a very good idea of what an elephant actually looks like. Truth is unchanging, like the elephant, but how one approaches the truth will change ones perception of it. The greatest lesson of this tale is not that the truth is unable to be found, on the contrary, the lesson is that the truth is found from an impeccable search and an open communication with others who are searching for the like!

There is no better test of a mans integrity than his behaviour when he is wrong.

Marvin Williams...

IMG 0846 Urunga Bowls Club

Graciousness is not one of the traits usually shown when people are wrong.  They can  flap about madly and it appears very plainly  that it doesn't sit well with a person to be wrong in most cases.  It is a physical change that occurs in the body.  The person can feel the vibration inside of themselves, it goes high when a correct thing is done and it spirals down when an incorrect decision has been made.

I have seen a lot of spiraling down inside of these types of premises and all licensed public houses.  I have seen my life eaten away with the pushing of button's by a man who had a serious gambling issue.  My ex husband had very big issues.  He can't not accuse me of this discretion and I fear it will surface again and he already owes $20,000.00 to Mr Max Patrick of the Patrick family.

Catherine Zita Jones could not contain herself from gasping at the site, and neither will this Catherine be able to hold back the sleeping Tiger as he pursues his prey under the stealth of surprise.  Just waiting for an opportunity to spring and then that will be that and it will all  be over.  I predicted Robyn and he would finish and I predict that he and Catherine will meet their demise inside a public gaming house.

Update from Fullerton cove ....Media Release 23rd August 2012, 3.50pm
BLOCKADE CONTINUES, FAMILY FUN DAY PLANNED AT FULLERTON COVE
Sunday 26th August, 10am onwards.
Fullerton Cove Coal Seam Gas Blockade (397 Fullerton Cove Rd, Fullerton Cove)

The Fullerton Cove Residents Action Group is inviting all members of the public to a Family Fun Day this Sunday, at the site of the community blockade against Dart Energy's coal seam gas drilling project.

The blockade has continued through a fourth day today and two local women at the blockade, Julie Wood and Lisa McDonald, have now been locked to a tractor at the site for more than 24 hours.
“Our family fun day will include rides, music, food, and balloons. Local Fullerton Cove business OFA Showstar will donate a jumping castle and a small Ferris wheel for the event. Osborne is one of many Newcastle and Port Stephens businesses who have overwhelmed us with their support for our cause”, said spokesperson Lindsay Clout.

“This is a great opportunity for people to come down and visit our blockade, and talk to the Fullerton Cove residents about the the threat that coal seam gas poses to the community and the environment.”

The public is also invited to attend a talk on the impacts of CSG tonight, at 7pm, at the blockade site. “Peter Martin, former CEO of Rothschild Australia Asset Management and now convenor of the Southern Highlands Coal Action Group, will visit the blockade site tonight to discuss his recent tour of United States, where he witnessed first hand the toxic legacy of the coal seam gas industry.” said Clout.

“This issue is much bigger than Fullerton Cove. Coal Seam Gas has left a trail of destruction in the United States, and will do so in Australia if State and Federal governments continue to ignore community demands,” said Mr Clout.

“The support for our blockade has been huge. Every day dozens of new people visit the site. Every day we get more donations from businesses around Port Stephens and Newcastle.

We would like to thank the following businesses for their valued support during the week: Stockton Family Meats, Rudders Cottage Bakery Stockton, Stockton Family Fruits, Browns Butchers Raymond Terrace, McDonalds Williamtown, Stockton IGA, Metro Garage Williamtown, Hunter Organics, Natural Tucker, The Fresh Ingredient, Merewether Food World, Festival IGA Stockton, Domino's Pizza Raymond Terrace, Hunter Meat Wholesalers Stockton” he said.
