Upcoming Culture Ride . .

Back ... way back  there was the "Freedom Ride" of 1964 and 1965 was a significant event in the history of civil rights for Indigenous Australians.
Inspired by the Freedom Riders of the American Civil Rights Movement, students from the University of Sydney formed a group called the Student Action for Aboriginals, led by Charles Perkins (the first Australian Aborigine to graduate tertiary education) among others, and traveled into New South Wales country towns on what some of them considered a fact-finding mission.

What they encountered was de facto segregation; the students protested, picketed, and faced violence, raising the issue of indigenous rights. They commonly stood protesting for hours at segregated areas such as pools, parks and pubs which raised a mixed reception in the country towns. Australia overwhelmingly passed a 1967 referendum removing discriminatory sections from the Australian Constitution and enabling the federal government to take direct action in Aboriginal affairs.

Out west where they think no one cares!

Out west of Dalby Queensland near Tara, there is just yet another example where the government and mining companies are desecrating sacred spots of the indigenous peoples of this land.

What was all of the "Sorry" about?  Why is there a register of these spots if it is ineffective and is failing to save these places?  I am so annoyed and my spirit cried out in both sadness and anger.

The man I met out there was a gentleman and the land owner and his name is David McCabe.  He was desperate to see these places protected on his land.  All of the years he has owned there he has had respect for this special place and knew to stay away.  He told me all about this. 

He was unsure what to do at first because of the fact that it was a woman's place and he was a man,  but he needed to do something to save it.  The mining companies had crept in closer and closer and had now already fallen one of the scarred trees on his land.   He was gutted.  

In desperation he made phone calls and contacted and indigenous group in the city in Brisbane,  they took all of the details and no one came. The mining companies took more and killed the creek opposite to where these trees are.  A took one of the scarred trees off at the base and there was no need as it was no where near the well.  

There is a spot that is known as the "wells" where there are deep holes in the flat rock near the creek and there the woman would harvest ochre of all different colours and when finished they would place a stone back on top to keep animals from falling in.  I have a picture of these places.

I promised this man I would do something and now I am sending this to my friends and my brothers and sisters with a spirit heart to intervene here and get justice ...  This is not on and what ever indigenous person or persons who sign off on its desecration as has happened in many other places is corruption on many levels with out even visiting the spiritual karma this is causing for us all.

Githabel Elder Arrested while performing Ceremony.

Australia is a country which openly say's its come a long way.  Today it just stepped back  over two hundred years with the arrest of  Githabel elder, Kamallie.  He was arrested for spitting as he was mixing ochre to apply to his body to perform ceremony.  NSW Police in doing so,  stepped over that spiritual line and took this country back into the dark ages. 

The arrest was made at Doubtful Creek outside Kyogle.  This is the site of one of Metgasco's PEL's.  There has been a large protest mounted here before the surface area was even prepared for the compound area..  All of the protesters  are determined, some of who are well practiced from the previous two and half months at the drilling site on the Avenue Road at Glenugie in the Grafton Shire.

Really, the government has shown itself to be doing dodgy deals all over the shop when it comes to mining and its starting to fall apart at the seams.  Every bit of this smells of corruption.   When a huge percentage of the Clarence River area said no, they were not going to sit down and take this and they have followed this No through with effective non violent direct action at both sites. 

NVDA is effectively costing the Metgasco company.  This is reflected in a drop in their share price.  Today their shares were sitting at 14.5cents each.  There are a lot of people who are planning a party when the price drops to 14cents.They are going broke but in the mean time we cannot take the pressure off.  These corrupt money hungry companies stop at nothing to get what they want and stoop to the gutter to achieve their bottom line.

Lock you gate folks and stand up for your God given rights to clean water from our planet.

It appears that Forestry workers lied to the elders the day before, telling them they would return at 8am Instead during ceremony preparation, around 6.30am Police arrived and the arrest was made.
This is Bunjalung land now.  The time has come for the ancient spirits to communicate with the people into their hearts.  Every sign and every symbol counts in this gathering of wisdom for country.

The men are preparing to call their spirit men,  the woman are preparing the food.  This campaign marks the point where Metgasco have stepped into unknown spiritual territory.  What happens to them now is their responsibility. The Ancestral Grandmothers and Grandfathers are very jealous about the water.

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, COUNTRY IS CALLING.

 Janet Cox who was arrested yesterday while trying to prevent Woodside’s drilling equipment from commencing destruction.

From my heart to yours. I have inherited Country from my old people, and as custodian I

have my rights to stand up and protect our Native land from bullies, selfishness, greed, and those who have no respect for our future generations and Country. I live out here; Country keeps me strong and healthy. I drink and eat, have fresh clean air, have plenty to see and do. Country is very important and precious to keep for my children, grand children and our future generations. I am so proud and very lucky to have this richness and glory. I have just reunited with my family and Country. This is my life and this is what I want to teach my children, grandchildren and future generations; and any other who want to learn about our Culture and live a simple and healthy lifestyle.

No Government in this world have any right to over-ride our people's inherited sovereign rights, to destroy our culture, our songline; and the people's choice on how to live their life, safely and in harmony. You have taken us away from our family and Country when our hearts said no. Well, my heart said that is enough of all of this. You still want to take our land away from under our feet, tried to burn us out, raped our virgin ground; ripping our hearts out at the same time. We are people with hearts, souls, and strong feelings - and you drag us off Country like we are rubbish.

You are taking our water which is our life, our main resource. You are bringing on global warming, poverty, violence, rape, murder - because you want everything the people have. You leave them them with nothing; you leave them with no choice. People's rights are to do strongly what comes from the heart and soul - in good faith and full of love and care for future generations. You are bullies, greedy, selfish, have no respect, and care only for money, money, money - that is all not very healthy for human society.

You have sold your souls, your hearts, your Country - through selfishness, greed, bullying, and lack of respect. Shame on those for bringing heart ache, sorrow and tears every day. They have no right - Country belongs to the people who care about Country, and want to take care of it. You walked off Country and turned your back away from your people, and haven't looked back till you smelt the money - then you became selfish, bullies, greedy and have no respect for Country, the people, and future generations.

We the protectors for Country, make sure that is everything attached is still here walking, talking, and living it still - and is fit for real human beings. Our children, grandchildren, and future generations can be strong, healthy and happy. LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, COUNTRY IS CALLING.

Miners hiding behind Barnett's police army

THIS week the government of Western Australia dispatched about 200 police officers to the sleepy tourist town of Broome to do the dirty work for several of the world's largest oil and gas companies.

Broome (Photo credit: Wikipedia) This mini army has been assembled on the doorstep of the Kimberley wilderness for one purpose -- to suppress the widespread opposition of the Broome community to the construction of the proposed $40 billion James Price Point industrial precinct.

In a startling admission, WA police commissioner Karl O'Callaghan confirmed earlier this week that the decision to drag police off their beats across the state and send them to Broome would cost taxpayers $100,000 a day, for an undisclosed period and with no cost to the companies involved in the project. The final bill will likely be several million dollars.

All this to move away and silence a dogged and growing band of locals who have stood in the way of the plans of a consortium of the world's biggest companies, including Shell, Chevron, Woodside, BP and BHP Billiton, to build this massive gas plant in a beautiful and sensitive part of the remote Dampier Peninsula.

Stronger Futures bill is very worrying.

Several of the clauses of the Stronger Futures bill are very worrying.  It does away with recognizing any indigenous rights / rites of the children and forbids these children to participate in normal ceremonial practices for example Sorry Days when an elder or person of the community  passes.  These day's can go on for days.

If the child does not go to school even more restrictions are put in place.  This legislation also leaves no place for any further home schooling of any children.  Therefore excluding them from the option of learning both culturally and academically.  This is Genocide.  This type of control is set to be rolled out to all centrelink recipients.

I am not a proud Australian, and this is a shame... a government shame!

  We come from ancient beginnings of hunting and gathering.  We took only what we needed for our family and ourselves.  There was a beautiful balance about this way of doing things where nature is concerned. 

Presently farming practices and mining practices have slumped to a level of degradation that is a shame and a blight on the people of the planet and especially Australia.  If I could walk out there and stop them I would.  I would be shot.  This is our civilization and I am not proud. 

I am not a proud Australian while ever the treatment of the indigenous people continues the way it does.  I am not a proud Australian while ever  the holes in the ground that are left like ugly pock marks on the skin of our land continue to scar her.  I am not a proud Australian while we use 35,million litres a day of ancient ground water for mining practices!
