Catching up with the Franklin's Woop Woop March

We left Leards Forest this morning and headed east and if the universe was with us we would catch up with the Franklins Ride to Canberra. They are doing this to tell politicians that Water is our most precious resource on the planet. We had a long hot drive but we caught up with them at Aberdeen in the Upper Hunter region of NSW. They had not long arrived and the horses were having a lovely swim and a drink in the river while Mick and Donna went to get hay for them at the produce store in town. They were was much laughter and frivolity when they arrived back to see visitors at camp and friendly faces from home.

Kathy and I  sat and had a bottle of coca-cola of all things, and we had one large bottle each too. We were that hot and dry from being out at Boggarbri, we drank the entire contents of both bottles we purchased and we perhaps could have had more even.

I took photos of everyone and we laughed a lot and told them of our travels out west and they swapped their riding stories with us.   Needless to say, their trip has been beautiful and slow.   This way you see things you  would never see going as fast as most travel these days.

The Woop Woop March is planning on arriving into Canberra at the end of November this year to greet the politicians and while they are there the horses are staying at the Equestrian Centre at Canberra and probably going to be spoiled I hope.

We said good bye to them all at dusk because we still had a fair way to travel.   We had left it a little late really and now we would  traverse this difficult Barrington Tops road in the dark.

They are staying here for two nights and letting the horses have a good rest and good feed and then the crew are heading to Sandy Hollow.
