Woman killed in hit-and-run collision near Bellingen

The victim, believed to be a local 32-year-old woman, was apparently walking along the road in the dark.
It appears that after the woman was hit , witnesses rushed to render first aid, but the woman was not conscious or breathing and shortly after went into cardiac arrest.
Paramedics arrived and commenced CPR, however, the woman died at the scene.
Ambulance, police including detectives, crime scene and crash investigators and SES attended the scene.
Police spoke to family and witnesses, and at about 2am police found a car wanted in relation to the crash and sent a tow truck to a Bellingen address to collect the vehicle.
A man is currently being interviewed by police in relation to the crash.
Waterfall Way north of Bellingen was closed for approximately seven hours while police conducted investigations and traffic was diverted around the crash scene.
