SIMPLY RED - Cinq

Red .
Nothing can be so amusingly arrogant as a young man or woman who has just discovered an old idea and thinks it is their own.  ~  Sidney J Harris Author

Just Sayin...
This has happened to me a lot lately,  I have felt this many times in the last couple of years as my teen age children grow, and after having heard me for a lifetime, they seem to distance themselves from me.  This is the harsh reality of the  developmental stage they are all in. I won't get a fair go at this time.

I had the idea that co-sleeping was the dopest way kids could get closest to their parents.  This was well frowned upon by the establishment in my circle.  Now 25 years later it is as though they thought of it now themselves and look how good we are for it.  . I, in fact borrowed the idea from the natives who have no other way of approaching the situation both fulfilling a need for warmth, closeness, and ease of nurturing.  There was no need for a separate space as baby was with mother.  This to me seemed sensible.  Today there is all sorts of scientific data to back up my now distant claims of the past.  I feel like the quote above now,. No one really came back and said, "hey Mezza, you were right about sleeping with your kid, it is so much better."  No one from the family said anything, no one from the town said anything.  Years ago they all had a lot to say about it.  All negative.  Now these same ones say nothing to vindicate me, nothing to heal the wounds of the past taunts.  The pendulum did not swing back as it does in the natural universe.

This is the hard reality that we have to face.  Sometimes, just a little bit of kudos would go a long way in making people feel that their lives were worth while in the true sense of it.  Someone noticed they made a difference and it had been noted, if only in the circle of family and friends or the community or the world at large.  All of those are valid depending on the nature of the idea in total.  Big stars and celebrities get this kind of kudos all the time.  Jay Z has even said himself that he made the Yankee's Hat more famous than the Yankees can.  Now that is a big arsed statement to say about yourself, however it is probably true.  He will get the kudos, but hypothetically a lowly father in the back woods who created the fledgling Yankees logo from a good idea and does it and if its not noted then at that time the idea is soon  stolen by others and taken as "their own idea".
This is a dodgy situation to happen to anyone.  Humans need a certain amount of recognition, this cements back into us  we are performing in the world O.K.

"Our cognition is fed back to us through the method of recognition"  ~ Mary-Ellen Peters.

Someone recognised the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary" was a good idea a long long time ago, glad they have not lost sight of this and disposed of it.   This could happen as it is on prime real estate land at the Gold Coast"
