60 Day Blockade shows a celebration of Strength and Unity.

 Today it is 6o days since the inception of the Glenugie Blockade that had its humble beginnings back when Denise got upset about what was happening in her own backyard and started a massive ball rolling.

Many will never know how tirelessly this outstanding woman has worked to try and protect her local area from the Csg Madness affecting Australia on all fronts.  Well done Glenugie... History shows a united people can create a turning point.  Our opposition is non violent and not negotiable. 

The energy and mining companies tell blatant lies.  They say this is safe!  There is no safe place to have this type of resource development and the public are not stupid, we know this for a fact.  Water is used extensively in the development stages and mining practices with Csg extraction and this  in a dry continent that is strapped for water is absolute madness.  They constantly refer to the fact that there is "No" damage to aquifers and they keep on saying this, but ordinary people know better and we all know this is the fight for our lives.

 

We will send them a message, they cannot take what ever they want.   This is our land.  It is time, just like the end of "Call to Action" say's, for ordinary people to become heroes. 

I dedicate this post to Denise Deane a true Australian Hero who bothered to stand up for what she knew was right and also to all of those that rallied to her and stood behind her as she raised the No Gas Well Cry in Glenugie Northern New South Wales Australia.   Well Done Denise, the Earth knows  you care and she loves you.

The CSG & Mining Industries have been known to tear apart local communities.  Tara and Gladstone are prime examples.  Suicides are on the rise, as is depression, anxiety and stress.

The same can now be said for the Clarence Valley and Glenugie – in fact, the entire Northern Rivers area, and notably in Kyogle and Casino.

At the Glenugie Protest, many of the local people are fighting for their homes, for their families and ultimately, for their lives.

Bearing all this mind, it would not be unexpected to find emotions running high sometimes at the Glenugie protest site.

This has become even more evident after the “Bloody Monday” incident where the Riot Squad gatecrashed the community’s peaceful and rightful protest/blockade by stomping all over our rights and our bodies in what could be construed as physical assault by the NSW Police Force.

Reports have now reached us of an incident last night at the site, when all the stress and anxiety was just too much to bear for one local man, a regular at the protest site. 

We are told that this man became quite emotional, jumped the fence and had an altercation with the security guards on site.

The situation had not improved by the time the Police were called and another altercation ensued with one of the arresting officers...  more information soon as it comes to hand.

Whilst some may view this man’s actions (last night) as “illegal”, we believe that MetGasCo’s invasion of our Country and planned theft of our water, our homes and our health is morally UNLAWFUL, and as such, criminal.

Metgasco Managing Director, Peter Henderson has promised during the past 12 months, in an ABC interview, that MetGasCo would proceed in the Northern Rivers only if they had a “social licence” to do so.

This is a newsflash MetGasCo – you have NO social licence here in the Northern Rivers and this is the beginning of the social cost of this toxic industry.  You are pushing normal, everyday people to the edge.

Over twenty eight (28) arrest to date, the clogging of the court system with law abiding, honest citizens, the loss of community productivity brought about by those at the protest, the absolute waste of Police time and resources,  all mixed together with the declining emotional health of our community – it is obvious this industry is breaking our community and people apart.

What say you Mr Peter Henderson?

Hey Ho Metgasco's gotta go!

Opponents of the industry have gathered at a test-drilling site at Doubtful Creek, near Kyogle. The gas company has started preparations for a drilling pad.

Peter Henderson says staff have the right to do their jobs without being hindered or harassed.  While Henderson sprouts utter garbage like this statement above, he see's the rights of farmers to clean water and uncontaminated land  as a joke.

Henderson has been documented many times laughing about the protests and calling Grandmothers who have never protested "EXTREMISTS" along with Andrew Stoner the deputy  Premier of N.S.W.  Who, surely bent over so he could take some more and where that is, I will let you make your own mind up about.  Culminating with Fraser  agreeing with Henderson.

The pair of them need to see the re introduction of capital punishment. This would see these naughty boys severely dealt with.  Hung drawn and quartered comes to my mind.  That's because I was used to hearing statements like these about politicians needing this treatment back in my childhood and a life in a house that openly despised the skullduggery the politicians and mining companies get amongst in their daily lives.

The abject degradation caused by this process of extracting gas from the shale layers deep beneath the earth has already proven to be disastrous to the land and water.  The process contaminates the water and poisons everything it touches.  It becomes like something of a cancer under the skin.

So, if Henderson is that stupid that he believes his own lies, then he needs to go down with this sinking Metgasco Ship of Fools. The share price is dropping daily and its worth basically nothing now.  Does this mean his shareholders are losing faith in this deathly industry?

TODAY there are multiple lock on situations unfolding at GLENUGIE south of Grafton NSW.

The locals are just fed up with not being heard and today will be another great day and hopefully another victory to the farmers and indigenous people of the area of Glenugie NSW.

Moving fast in 2013

Trends are showing for 2013 and it already shows much more use of social media and access to buying online.  It must be the instant way of dealing with it that is the attraction.  I think that it is a convenient way to get those things that are difficult to get at the right price but I like shopping and looking at products.
If this keeps going there will be no need for shops in the future.  We will simply open an online catalogue and order right there.   Wow life really is changing fast now.

 

 This is a picture of an old house in the Clarence Valley, constructed when times were not moving as fast as they are today as we sped past the signs of that past time that has now long gone like this house is.

TOXIC FLUID SPILL AT GLENUGIE

GLENUGIE UPDATE:
Metgasco have just had a spill of toxic fluids on the site at Glenugie. Pipeline split/came apart and copious quantities of an unknown substance have spilled onto the ground. Whatever it is in the spill was toxic enough that workers ran to shift some green drums (containing more toxic crap). THIS is why we are fighting!

Heat Wave Conditions out there today!

The country is heating up out there at a rapid rate, we must be going to get some mad rain down the track because this heat is certainly sucking up the moisture.
The country has so many fires burning everywhere, some of these I credit to Csg Well situation.  These wells will make fire wild fire.  There is no denying this is a fact as we have already seen this before but some of us forget.

 

 A few years back it got so hot in this area that the bats were dropping dead out of the trees and this is happening again in some places at the moment.  The bats dying are a sign that it is damn hot out there.  The temperatures a few years back were in the 40's and this is occurring once again now.

90 Year Old Widows are not safe.

Today a 26 year old walked free on a good behavior bond for stealing the jewellery of a 90 year old widow.  He posed as an Optus technician and entered her house.  This man is on a working Visa and he should be deported immediately.  This is a sad indictment once again on the systems that we trust in this country.

Tests reveal contaminated water near gas site

THE state's first case of water contamination from coal seam gas drilling has been discovered in north-western NSW, according to independent tests.
High levels of ammonia, methane, carbon dioxide, lithium, cyanide, bromide and boron were found around a water discharge point near a Santos coal seam gas operation in the Pilliga forest, near Narrabri.
The state government last night confirmed it would conduct its own investigation and testing of the site.
Water samples gathered by environment groups Friends of the Earth and The Wilderness Society were tested by East West EnviroAg, an independent laboratory in Tamworth that services agricultural and mining clients.

It found samples from Bohena Creek, near a coal seam gas well discharge pipe, contained ammonia at three times the safe level recommended by drinking water guidelines. Upstream samples were uncontaminated.
Santos, which took over the exploratory drilling site from Eastern Star Gas last month, said it had not seen the test results and had doubts about the credibility of the environment groups that collected the samples. It cited a NSW Office of Water study that said ammonia levels in the waterway were normally high, as a result of runoff from nitrate-based fertilisers.
''Discharged water is tested on a monthly basis and all recent results have met NSW requirements,'' the company said in a statement.
''Santos is confident it is not in breach of its authority or having any adverse impact on water resources in the area.''
The NSW Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services, which is responsible for regulating most aspects of the coal seam gas industry, yesterday launched its own investigation. The NSW Environment Protection Authority told the Herald last night it had also contacted the department and would follow up on the investigation.
The water being discharged into Bohena Creek is pumped from deep underground during the drilling and gas extraction process, and is released into the creek under licence from the government after being treated by a reverse osmosis plant.
Carmel Flint, a spokeswoman for Friends of the Earth, said she resented the claim from Santos that the high contaminant levels in the water might be from farming.
''We are astonished that Santos are apparently trying to shift the blame to farmers for their own polluting activities,'' she said.
''There is no farming along the Bohena Creek where the water was collected - it is located entirely in the Pilliga State Forest … This is Santos's coal seam gas water, it is their very own pollutants that are flowing in to that creek system.''
The plan inherited by Santos from Eastern Star Gas calls for 1100 gas wells across the Pilliga forest.
The test results were released as the NSW parliamentary inquiry into coal seam gas conducted another hearing in Sydney. It heard from industry executives and engineers that there had been no known incidents of water pollution resulting from coal seam gas operations in the state.

  "It may be legal, but only with the laws as they are now, and those laws should change to reflect the wishes of the community and that is, they have said no to coal seam gas," he said.

"This industry does not have a social licence.

"It has not any support in the community and the people are putting their bodies on the line defending their land and water and the people of the Northern Rivers should be congratulated for doing that by people across NSW and Australia."

Glenugie's Bloody Monday

The day started very early as I was up and on watch at 5am.  Earlier, I had woken to rain and it was gentle and loving.  I was sent on watch with a flat radio,  this didn't  make me feel comfortable. 
I must have been the only one at Glenugie with out a smart-fone.  At least that is how I felt.  I can't communicate the smart way yet as its just outta my range at the moment.  Pardon the pun!

I took a radio with but wasted valuable time and brought it back to camp as it was well flat.  That radio should not have been used at all through the night as there was no alert to call so how it was dead flat??? This puzzled me.  Common sense would tell anyone that radios would be a priority on this Monday morning , since we all suspected this would be the day Metgasco and the police would come.

At the moment the police came I was wondering how we were going to alert the camp.  All these people and NO PHONE .. what the ... Keystone cops again!  Wanda was having a pretend picnic at dawn.  That was pretty funny.   I pulled my little black car out in front of the trucks that had the cherry picker on it.  I thought that will slow them down and it isn't the Police.  I was told I was bad for doing this though. I still have not processed that instance to date  as I thought this was my job to slow them down.

Police talking to tow trucks and tilt tray drivers.. I pulled out in front of these guys and blocked the road for approximately five minutes.  Not much other than this could I do,  but I thought it might help.

Hmmm... now what - Hello everyone the POLICE have arrived enmasse.

Communication to the world was paramount at this particular time. The world needed to know we were under siege right and thankfully because of this determined communicator, instantly they did know.

 This was beautiful this bid to slow the frackers... but the tripod sitter was well locked on and they had to work hard to free him.  This all took time and this is why this is done.  To stop them.

and some of us just sat in a tree and waited because the cherry picker wasn't tank enough to get to the sitter and that part was funny considering this is the truck I got in front of.

Police got very heavy through the day

At 3.15pm the Rig finally got in the gate at Glenugie but not without a gallant fight.

There were 18 arrests, everyone that locked on accept for Wanda was arrested.  Wanda quoted the Sovereign right she has a soul and said she did not stand under the authority. - It worked as she was let go free.

Packing the car is a joy to go to Glenugie

I packed the car yesterday ready to go in case there was a red alert this morning,  there wasn't so I set off leisurely for Glenugie for the Umteenth time this action.  The petrol and going away is very hard on both of us as it takes money to leave home and Brice has to take care of himself.  He does a good job though.

I arrived in camp around lunch time and took my time erecting my tent, and took even more time and helped Jenny to erect her tent as I could see she was a little overwhelmed with doing it alone.  I did enjoy helping and I do know I have gotten gamer again now.
