Russell Morris - The Relative Truth

Russell Norman Morris (born 31 July 1948) is an Australian singer-songwriter who had five Australian Top 10 singles during the late 1960s and early 1970s.  My friend Texsy who was killed accidentally was born on Russell Morris's Birthday when he was 38 years old.  Forever I will remember when his birthday is now!

Morris' career started at the age of 18, in September 1966. On 1 July 2008, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) recognized Morris' iconic status when he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

In 1973, Morris moved to London to record an album only to discover there was no record contract waiting for him. He relocated to New York and set to work on an album there, including new versions of both "Sweet Sweet Love" and "Wings of an Eagle" and the single "Let's Do It".

A second American album appeared in 1976. It was two more years before Morris was granted his green card, enabling him to tour America. But by then, any chance of an American career had bolted. Instead, Morris returned to a very different Australia than the one he had left behind five years earlier.

Russell Morris that I loved in the 1960's

Another clear case of people from this time not getting the opportunities they should have had afforded to them because of their obvious talent.  I too feel the same way regarding being a parent and being a child.  When I was a child we had to respect our parents or else, these days the children have no respect for their parents and so we had it so tough from our parents and now we are being bashed by our own children as well.  This is the era I grew up in.

The Chords and Lyrics for "WINGS OF AN EAGLE"

Am G
Well I'm lookin out at an overcast sky in the morning
Am G D
And I hear the warning as it calls to you
       Am
As the birds migrate and the wind is raised
      G
I'll see the eagle soaring
Am G D
Although I just a pawn in natures game like you
