The Super Moon comes to Urunga!

June 2013 presents the moons closest encounter with Earth until August 10, 2014, at which time the moon will be a scant 5 kilometres closer to Earth.

IMG 1616 Looking out over the rivers in Urunga with the fullmoon.

The full moon will come even closer to Earth on September 28, 2015 and closer yet on November 14, 2016.

November 2016 will feature the closest full moon until November 25, 2034.

The closest full moon of the 21st century will fall on December 6, 2052.

For the moon to come closer than 356,400 kilometres (221,457 miles) is quite a feat. In fact, this won’t happen at all in the 21st century or the 22nd century.

The last time the full moon swung this close to Earth was on January 14, 1930 (356,397 km), and the next time won’t be till January 1, 2257 (356,371 km).

All full moons bring higher-than-usual tides, and close full moons bring the highest (and lowest) tides of all. Each month, on the day of the full moon, the moon, Earth and sun are aligned, with Earth in between. This line up creates wide-ranging tides. High tides climb up especially high, and on the same day low tides plunge especially low.

Bottom line: The full moon of June 22-23, 2013 is the closest and largest full moon of this year. There are three full moons in 2013 that meet the definition of a super moon – May, June and July. But this June 22-23 full moon is the most super of the super moons.

RENEWABLES . .Pioneering days like before required.

I was looking around and I came across this yesterday and so I have re blogged it to get it out there to the wider public at least via my blog.  This is the sort of thing I totally believe to be the way to kick this thing off.  We have to be pioneers like our forefathers were where this is concerned.  I saw this in a dream.

Enegetic Communities sowing a Common Thread.  DSCN0440
Community Owned Renewable Energy (CORE)
Many Australians want more renewable energy, but are disempowered by the lack of choice in where their power comes from, with much of the profits of power generation leaving their communities.  If you neither have the capital or the roof to put on solar, community owned renewable energy allows you to change this, as it provides renters, apartment owners, community groups, businesses and those on a low income with the ability to contribute, own and benefit from renewable energy when they can’t afford or are unable to install their own.
We aim to build community resilience to the twin concerns of Peak Oil and Climate Change, while also building a sense of community.   Energetic Communities is currently establishing a CORE organisation as a seperate entity to Energetic Communities.  It is this entity that will develop, own, install and manage a 30-100kW solar installation, our first community owned project.
We are also currently discussing what technology to use for future projects, including wind, solar or anaerobic digestion, or perhaps several of these. We are also talking to various SEQ communities who wish to start their own Community Owned Renewable Energy project.  Feel free to contact us to ask about out journey so far!
Would you like to see a Queensland Community Power Cooperative?
Do you have an skills you could share with us? Would you like to receive updates? Please sign up to our mailing list here or in the menu to the right and let us know how you would like to be involved or how you can contribute.

Ideally, what we're looking for in potential sites is:
    • Large unshaded north facing roof.
    • You own the building (or site) or have a long term lease.
    • You have a high electricity demand.
    • Electricity bills of thousand of dallars per month.

Ten Foods to stay away from where ever possible.

IMG 0895 Organised Organics
Good wholesome Organic Fruit and Vegetables.
People sprout such throw away lines like "Everything causes you cancer these days"or they might just be naive and say,"You gotta go some how".  I think they throw off like  this to try to make excuses for their own slackness regarding the food and beverages consumed on the regular by themselves and their families.

Its an addictive cycle.  Its one that is difficult to break, once you have a house full of little addicts to keep satisfied with this highly processed junk, it is!  Hence why it is called junk food. It's addictive and it can be likened closely to junkies getting a fix.

It is as sad as any bad addiction ever witnessed.  People lie. They hide behaviors and the list goes on and of course if they don't get help or choose to pull this behavior up of their own volition, death is the result.   Untimely early in many cases.

I constantly see the majority are opting for what they term as the easy way.  The easy way is the killer way.  This is the way that you will get cancer and die an early death.

I have a rule of thumb,  if it comes in a packet it probably is worth checking the ingredients.  .....That is if you care about yourself.

An advertisement for Smith's Potato Crisps

Once people never consumed oodles of potato crisps or corn chips.  Everyone is now eating corn chips in preference to potato crisps the trends show.  People are exposing themselves to GM products here if they are not certified organic in the ingredients. Corn is the one to watch.   Cereals, Sweeteners, Drinks, Lollies, just about everything has been tampered with.  Milk has additives too.

I have another rule of thumb.  Eat Simply and don't eat too much.

Most of today's people don't do the types of physical labour that one faced 24/7 during times of the past centuries and yet people are eating three times as much. This is not helping you fight the times you are exposed to anything bad.

IMG 1753 Delightfully Delicious
Homemade Biscuits are so much better for you.
In regards to all the bad stuff there is now, if you are only ever going to see a tiny bit here and there, the body can tolerate this to a point with most people.   It is the constant bombardment of the following items on the list below that is killing people faster than is normal.

Low socio-economic groups don't stand a chance in this debate either.   How do they afford the expensive organic foods sold on the market?  They can't if they are living in a unit with four children and no garden area, all while forced to eat the poison they buy with their very own money.

1.  Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs).
2.  Processed meats.
3.  Microwave popcorn. (gmo corn used)
4.  Fizzy Carbonated sugar drinks
5.  Artificial Sweeteners / Diet Foods
6.  Over processed Flours (white)
7.  Refined sugars / Corn Syrup etc.
8.  Dirty Fresh Food ( not organic and pesticide free)
9.  Farmed salmon.
10.Hydrogenated oils.

‘Circus In The Sky’ - 7 days to go!!!!

Bliss n Eso 2011 Big Day Out

Bliss N Eso Unveil ‘Circus In The Sky’ Tracklist And Album Cover

Written by Sarah Bella on 15th May, 2013
Aussie hip hop lynchpins Bliss N Eso have revealed the tracklisting and cover art for their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Circus In The Sky. If the list of collaborators is anything to go by, this record is going to be a corker.

Hip hop icon Nas is easily the biggest name to feature, with the New Yorker teaming up with the trio on I Am Somebody. We can also expect appearances from Melbourne soul export Daniel Merriweather and rising American singer-songwriter Ceekay Jones. Track 9, Reservoir Dogs, has piqued our interest – with 360, Pez, Seth Sentry and Drapht all appearing. It’s pretty much a who’s who of contemporary Australian hip hop. Wowzers.

The artwork features the same winged creature from Bliss N Eso’s last 2 records, Running on Air and Flying Colours, but this time it’s not Steve Cross behind the illustrations but renowned digital artist Justin Maller, who has worked with the likes of Nike and Coca-Cola.

As per usual, the Sydney outfit have crammed in a lot of value for your buck, squeezing 17 tracks on to the album, including previously released singles House Of Dreams and Home Is Where The Heart Is.

Circus In The Sky
is available for pre-order now at Bliss N Eso’s official site, along with a bunch of neat goodies like signed CDs, T-shirts, phone covers and stubby holders.

Bliss N Eso last week announced House Of Dreams, their first headlining tour since 2011, which will see the boys on a 7-date trip around the country.

Today is also the shortest day of the year for us down here and here is some information of the day as it stands:

Summer (Winter) Solstice

Friday will be a long day full of sunlight for those of you in the Arctic Circle…24 hours long, to be exact. At 5:04 GMT (1:04 am EDT) on June 21, the sun will be straight overhead along the Tropic of Cancer, and the North Pole will reach its maximum tilt toward the sun for the year. Areas within the Arctic Circle will watch the sun circle through the sky for a full 24 hours. This event is known in the Northern Hemisphere as the Summer Solstice, the longest daylight period of the year for those outside the tropics. Sunrise in Reykjavik, Iceland will occur at 2:55 am, local time, with sunset at 12:04 am. The Summer Solstice is a cause for celebration for many cultures around the world.

Of course, we cannot forget the other half of the Earth. The Southern Hemisphere will be experiencing their Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. The Southern half of the Earth will reach its maximum tilt away from the sun, marking the beginning of their winter season. Sunrise at Sydney, Australia will occur at 7:00 am local time, with sunset at 4:54 pm.

"Water Trigger" Amendment to the EPBC Act of 1999

This is tough new law around mining passed today.   This is absolutely fraught with holes but not many see this yet either!  I will reserve my judgement totally because I am not trusting of their so called "INDEPENDENT STUDIES".  If they could put my mind at ease regarding this then we may have a different out look around this.

EPBC - Environmental Protection and Bio Diversity Act 1999
for more on this click here

SAM 7810 - Promised Land
The clear waters of the Never Never Creek outside of Bellingen NSW

I was reading  Alan Jones comments about this  and he said per this transcription the following:

Coal seam gas:   Well, debate in the Senate on Environment Minister Tony Burke’s so-called “water trigger” legislation continued yesterday without a vote.

This is the legislation which will allow the Minister to take into account the effects on groundwater when considering whether to grant approval to coal seam gas mining projects.

The Greens were proposing  four [4] amendments to:give landholders a right to say no to mining on their land, apply the water trigger to four [4] coal seam gas projects which have already been approved, broaden the water trigger to include shale and other gas mining as well as coal seam gas mining, and ensure all matters of significance are considered by the Minister before granting mining approvals.

But Federal Cabinet decided last night to direct Labor Senators to vote against these amendments.  However, one Lower House amendment which is already part of the Bill, will outlaw bilateral agreements with the States under which the Commonwealth could refer its water trigger approval powers to the States.

This amendment is an attempt to prevent any incoming Coalition Government from delegating responsibility for these decisions to the States as the Coalition has suggested it wants to do.

It would have been preferable had the water trigger legislation included the Greens’ amendments.  But, even without them, this Bill is better than nothing.  Debate in the Senate will resume today.  Let’s hope a vote is taken and it is also passed today.
ALAN JONES DAILY COMMENTS POD CAST

Well the vote was taken and the result was this:  An amendment moved by Coalition Senator Simon Birmingham, that would have effectively knocked out Mr Windsor's amendment, was defeated 34-28 on Monday night.

Where did Greenpeace come from?

This may well be a question some will ask in the future.  I was around and a teenager of thirteen years old when Greenpeace first protested the Nuclear testing in the oceans.  I do remember this but I really didn't know the history.  Greenpeace was founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1971.  It was formerly known as "The don't make a Wave Foundation"

Permaculture is Permanent Agriculture.

Uncle Bill
Uncle Bill (Photo credit: London Permaculture)
"To empower the powerless and create a 'million villages' to replace nation-states is the only safe future for the preservation of the biosphere. Let interdependence and personal responsibility be our aims."

SAM 6803 My Chives in Flower

Bill Mollison, an Australian jack-of-all-trades, developed an agricultural systems strategy after extensive research on the Tasmanian aborigines. He and David Holmgren coined the phrase permaculture (permanent agriculture), while attempting to create an "interdisciplinary earth science with a potential for positivism, integrated, and global outreach" (Mollison ix).

Permacultural aspect: helping animals in a veg...
Permacultural aspect: helping animals in a veggie garden; harnessing and maintenance (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The agricultural system that he developed involves a comprehensive paradigm shift that includes the development of an ethical and moral approach to the natural world. The foundation of this ethics begins with the adoption of a "sophisticated aboriginal belief system." By looking towards the aborigines, we can develop a more holistic approach to the world around us. Mollison summarizes this belief in his book Permaculture: A Designer's Manual:

English: permacultural aspect: co-operating ni...
English: permacultural aspect: co-operating niches at a small scale – photo made on an organic farm on the Swabian Mountains in Germany (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
"Life (according the aboriginal people of Australia) is a totality neither created nor destroyed. It can be imagined as an egg from which all tribes (life forms) issue and to which all return. The ideal way in which to spend one's time is in the perfection of the expression of life, to lead the most evolved life possible, and to assist in and celebrate the existence of life forms other than humans, for all come from the same egg" (2).

With this belief system, which is inherent to Mollison's form of permaculture, the "prime directive of permaculture" can be met. This directive is acceptance of responsibility for our own existence and that our offspring (1).

What makes a moon a super Moon? Being one arc minute larger than last months Full moon which was also called a super moon.

On the 23rd of this month June 2013 we will have a super moon again and everyone is discussing the facts surrounding this  and making plans to so some special things in recognition of this.  I acknowledge the power of this moon.

IMG 9113 Opaque Moon

A ‘Super Moon’ 30% brighter than an average Full Moon’s brightness will occur on Sunday 23 June 2013 (at 9:32 pm AEST). The Moon will appear larger than any other Moon of 2013 as June’s Full Moon occurs within 32 minutes of the Moon’s closest approach to the Earth for the year.
I have seen some saying this year we will have two super moons.  One in May and one in June.

The reason for the increase in the apparent size of the Moon has to do with the Moon’s egg shaped or elliptical orbit. There is approximately a 50,000 kilometre difference between when the Moon is at its closest (perigee) and it’s furthest from the Earth (what is referred to as apogee). June 2013′s Full Moon will occur at almost the same time as the closest approach of the Moon to the Earth for the year at a mere 356,991 kilometers.

For South East Queensland
, king tides for 2013 will occur the day after June’s ‘Super’ Moon as the Earth’s oceans respond to the pull of the Moon’s gravity. The next ‘Super’ Moon will occur on 10 August 2014.

More information about ‘Super Moons’ can be found on Wikipedia.

Note that the News.com.au story Brighten up, the super moon is on the way about 2013′s Super Moon occurring in May 2013 is factually incorrect.
The apparent size of the Full Moon for June 2013 is larger than May’s by one arc minute (confirmed by referring to the highly recommended Sky Safari Pro tablet app).    Via Nigh Sky Online

"Ice on the Dune" ~ Empire of the Sun's New Album

Luke Steel and Nick Littlemore are Empire of the Sun. The duo from Australia delivered an album premiere of epic proportions in the Concert Hall at the Opera House on the 30th of May last month.

IMG1478 More Gold on the Ceiling

Luke who appears to be the front man to this duo described the title track as being “about how the Emperor’s head-dress is stolen by The King Of Shadows and the emperor and his priestesses travel throughout the world through all the heathen towns.  While the head dress is missing this is bringing chaos to the world”.

Vivid LIVE @ Sydney Opera House

I loved their first album, Walking on a Dream so much.  We played and played this. I have songs from that album down in my top 1OO   I call Melonpop Drives Top 100 songs of forever, thats how good I thought it was.  So Ice on the Dune has big shoes to fit into to follow that up.

The emperor and his priestesses going around the world through all the heathen towns ..  yes it is like this.  I see so much more in their costumes and in their music.  To me it is like the know the secrets of the universe because their lyrical content tells me clearly they do.

The sun is our life giver and our sustainer and these guys understand where we are going on this journey we all call life.   Ice on the Dune conjures up a lot of symbology once again.  I love the entire album.

I look forward  to hearing some tracks off the third album that is already in the pipeline.  "When that creative spark is sparking we need to keep that sort of momentum going", said Luke.  Its a pendulum effect once again because I agree, momentum is good.   I guess saying your third album is going to be awesome when the vinyl is still wet from the second album released two weeks ago at the Opera House Great Hall is a big call.  A call I don't think I will be disappointed with.  Quite frankly these guys could sing three blind mice and it would still come out all esoteric and magical.

This video footage is some live stuff from the guys at the Sydney Opera House during Vivid Live 2013.

Fish actually fell from the sky over Lajamanu in the Northern Territory

IMG 5755

Miles and miles and miles away from a river or the ocean and fish start falling out of the sky on top of you,  that is not an everyday thing.   What is even more amazing is that its happened two other times that has been reported in the news.  This happened not once, but twice, on Thursday and Friday afternoon around 6pm at Lajamanu, about 550km southwest of Katherine.

In 1974  and in 2004 it occurred then and now its all happening again.  There were old reports in the NT News.  This made world news back then.

Weather experts in Australia  are saying that this happens because the fish were sucked up in a thunderstorm before being dumped over the tiny town of Lajamanu with a population of 669 people.   The fish are believed to be spangled perch.

When members of the community spoke to friends over on the coast they thought residents were losing the plot.  One lady said she hoped it didn't start raining crocodiles, cause that would be a worry.  All of the fish were alive as they hit the ground.

I wonder if they ate the fish?   I also wonder if they were tested to find out where they came from.  We may hear more about this yet.

BIG LIGHT Sails over the east coast of Australia heading East!

IMG 0926.CR2 Nightly

A very bright and very big light was reported hurtling through the skies of SE Queensland and Northern NSW all the way to the Hunter region.  That light was none other than the decomissionioned Soviet Satellite  Molniya 3-53.

I missed the action.  I  really really missed this!  I eagerly ventured outside last night when I heard there was action up in the sky over SE Queensland around Nanango and Kingaroy area in Queensland.  I went outside up into  the back yard for a look, I didn't stay long enough though it seems.  I should have stayed longer.  I didn't see anything so I abandoned it all and  went to bed almost straight away after coming back inside frozen to the core.   Isn't it always the way, what do you know,  it was all going on and I didn't know a thing.  I was oblivious to what sight everyone was seeing.  So Yes, I am disappointed slightly.

Today was a flurry of reporting.  There were reports from all up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia from North of Brisbane all the way down to Port Macquarie and down as far as the Hunter Valley.  In our area here there were Hundred's of reports from the Coffs Harbour surrounding districts.

I think the funniest report was from my great friend Gail.  Yes Gail saw it!   She witnessed this entire event  while she was having a cigarette on her verandah.  The sky started to go strange and suddenly it was lit up everywhere with a peculiar light and then she saw it sailing in over the top of her from the west.

She was convinced it was going to hit Fuller's Fruit Barn on Waterfall Way.  She said she was waiting for the siren's but they never happened.  I laughed with her picturing all of this.  I think Gail was very lucky.

IMG 2508 Head in the Clouds

Reports today also say it was Space Junk and not an actual meteorite after all.  Either way it gave lots of people a site they will never forget.

Followers of the Coffs Coast Advocate comment on that bright burning light in the sky.

From this website then we read that it was Space Junk from an old satellite http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=CO-20130614-39605-AUS
