BATMANS TREATY 6th June 1835

John Batman's Treaty was a deal done with gentleman in a gentlemanly manner. This is clearly the point where the English over stepped their mark and it is a clear case of corrupt law brought down upon the people of this land.
I would seek that the Court of Australia now seek to recognise John Batman's Treaty and compensate the people for the loss of their culture and of their ancestors in such a corrupt and unjust manner. The crown should be made accountable for this.

IMG 0816

On 6 June 1835 John Batman met with eight elders of the Wurundjeri people including Bebejan and Billibellary, the traditional owners of the lands around the Yarra River.

The meeting took place on the bank of a small stream, likely to be the Merri Creek and treaty documents were signed along with exchanges of goods by both sides.  For a purchase price including tomahawks, knives, scissors, flannel jackets, red shirts and a yearly tribute of similar items, Batman obtained about 200,000 hectares (2,000 square km) around the Yarra River and Corio Bay.

The total value of the goods has been estimated at about GBP100 in the value of the day. In return the Woiwurrung offered woven baskets of examples of their weaponry and two Possum-skin cloaks, a highly treasured item.

After the treaty signing, a celebration took place with the Parramatta aborigines with Batman's party dancing a corroboree.

The Treaty

The treaty was significant as it was the first and only documented time when European settlers negotiated their presence and occupation of aboriginal lands.

The Theft

The Treaty was immediately repudiated by the colonial government in Sydney.

The 1835 proclamation by Governor Richard Bourke implemented the doctrine of "terra nullius" upon which British settlement was based, reinforcing the concept that there was no land owner prior to British possession and that Aboriginal people could not sell or assign the land, and individuals could only acquire it through distribution by the Crown.

Like the legend it is from beginning to end.

You can never go too far or give up.  Some days are just so beautiful down by the waters edge in Urunga.

IMG 0981

Meanwhile so much is going on the is just madness in the world.  What is the reasoning behind all of the madness of the world?  The energy is returning, feel it reeling towards the positive.  Its hard to see but it is a foregone conclusion the government and the mining and energy companies are going to meet with far more opposition than clearly they are banking on.

This issue of Csg Mining is a not negotiable issue.  Some keep crowing about how it can co-exist and in a very swift voice back I say NO.  No it clearly cannot co-exist anywhere as it is poison to the water and the water is important everywhere.

Gemini Decans

What is a decan?  Decans are 36 groups of stars (small constellations) which rise consecutively on the horizon throughout each earth rotation. The rising of each decan marked the beginning of a new decanal "hour" (Greek hōra) of the night for the ancient Egyptians, and they were used as a sidereal star clock beginning by at least the 9th or 10th Dynasty (ca 2100 BCE.)

Because a new decan also appears heliacally every ten days (that is, every ten days, a new decanic star group reappears in the eastern sky at dawn right before the Sun rises, after a period of being obscured by the Sun's light), the ancient Greeks called them dekanoi (pl. of dekanos) or "tenths" (and when the concept of decans reached northern India, they were called drekkana in Sanskrit.) These predictable heliacal re-appearances by the decans were eventually used by the Egyptians to mark the divisions of their annual solar calendar. Thus the heliacal rising of Sirius marked the annual flooding of the Nile.

GEMINI DECANS

1st Decan » 22nd - 31st May: Ruled by Mercury, you are a quick-silver personality, changeful, very versatile and intriguing. Resourceful, you tend to live on your wits. Being multi-faceted, you may find success in many fields. A hard-to-pin-down lover, but so passionate, inventive, basically kind, though scheming at times.

2nd Decan » 1st - 10th June:
Influenced by Venus, you combine a lively mind and rapier wit with a gentler side that gains you popularity and assures success in any work with people. You have a rare gift for self-expression and a talent for attracting love, desire and lifelong devotion. You are sensuous, take your time with lovemaking and do understand your partner.

3rd Decan » 11th - 21st June:
Influenced by Uranus, you live as if each day were your first, seeing with new eyes, tasting new tastes, dreaming new dreams. You are absolutely your own person and thrive alone, but make a magical lover for a partner prepared to give you space and listen to you

YOTHU YINDI's lead singer passes from this world!

Yesterday on my birthday the lead singer of Yothu Yindi passed on to the spirit world from here. I was in a state of shock from this and it made me very reflective.  He was 56 years old.

I realize he has gone onto a better place.  In that place he can effect the changes with the great spirits already gone there before us all.

I am saddened he went so soon.  I loved him from afar.  Such a powerful and beautiful man who suffered with Kidney disease. This was caused from Diabetes.
"IN KEEPING IN TRADITION I HAVE NOT NAMED HIM OR SHOWN HIS PICTURES NOW HE IS IN THE SPIRIT WORLD."

Fire was his clans symbol and fire was his life force.  I understand how this man thought!  He always thought in terms of balance and fairness and he always attempted to achieve a balance with everything.

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."

~ The Kybalion ~

It is my birthday today  but at the same time it is Chris's birthday and it is Ebonies birthday and Mandawuy left this plane today as well and he moved on up the ladder. May his journey be a fast one.

I used to dream dreams and I wondered where I had been.  I would arrive back in my body having seen the most glorious things indeed.   I expect that I had been burned by the fire so the heat could trim off the dross and then what is left can be utilized.  The occult knowledge is a gift,  as above so below - so below as above.

Everything manifests into everything else because of vibrational energy.   This energy is same but different at the same time.  Every effect having its cause and every cause having its effect.  When you truly understand this you are on your way.  Biggest love from me on the celebration day of my birth into humanity.

Put your LEMON into it.

Lemon
Lemon (Photo credit: vzaliva)
Lemons are a miracle citrus fruit.  I knew of lemon juice  from the time when I was very young.  I was made sit weekly with my head covered in lemon juice.  It was the way to keep blonde hair blonde and because my Great Aunt loved my blonde hair so much she was going to make it stay there by hell or high water.

So it was that I would sit in the sunshine covered in lemon juice dripping all over me and making me sticky and messy, but I loved the scent of the juice and the skin. I loved the fuss they made over me doing this.  I felt special, no one else was made sit in the sun and do this where I lived.  It must have worked because I still have blonde hair that others say is lovely and I am mid fifties now.

Given that this is my first memory of lemons, when I was able to research this fact I found there to be a lot of truth in the fact that Lemons are pretty clever and are a most useful fruit.

Below is a collection of uses for the humble beautiful yellow Lemon Fruit.
  • Bleaching and Whitening -
  • To Aid Digestion  - Drink the juice of 1 freshly squeezed lemon in a glass of lukewarm water after meala. The lemon acid will stimulate the production of stomach acid and heighten the activity around the stomach muscles
    .
  • Painful Burning Joints - Rheumatism and other joint inflammation issues need to start using Lemon Juice as a matter of urgency for relief. Lemon juice is acidic but when ingested it has an alkaline effect therefore reducing and combating against the excesses of acid that are responsible for the Rheumatoid problem in the first place.
Drink the freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon in a glass of lukewarm water 3 times a day and if you experience severe pain increase this to the juice of 2 lemons 3 times a day.

  • In a recent double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 18 healthy volunteers received two separate single doses of a standardized lemon balm extract (300 mg and 600 mg) or placebo for 7 days.
The 600 mg dose of lemon balm increased mood and significantly increased calmness and alertness.

  • If Insomnia is upon ya! - Several studies have found that lemon balm combined with other calming herbs (such as valerian, hops, and chamomilehelps reduce anxiety and promote sleep.

  • Insect bites and Repellents - If the sting is still in the skin, take it out with  tweezers. Massage 1 to 2 drops of lemon oil, mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey, into the skin around the bite.
To repel insects, add 20 drops of lemon oil to 1 cup (250ml) of water and spray into the air.  Another home remedy is to place a cotton wool ball soaked in lemon oil in your bedroom.
For outdoor activities in the evening, apply lemon scent to unclothed areas of skin. Or, add 11 drops of lemon oil to 50gms of sunflower oil and rub into the skin.

  • Dealing with Blood Pressure - An Interesting recipe to make up and chill ahead of time.
Add 3 crushed garlic cloves and 1 chopped onion to 1 quart or cold skimmed or low fat milk or soy milk. Slowly bring to the boil and let it stand for 5 minutes.
Pour through a sieve and chill. Add the freshly squeezed juice of 3 lemons and sip throughout the day.
Those that suffer with issues with Cholesterol, lemon juice has shown to be helpful in reducing this.
  • Bad Breath / technically called Halitosis - To keep your breath fresh, rinse your mouth several times a day with fresh squeezed juice of 1 Lemon in a glass of warm water.  Chewing on the rind of a lemon after dinner can also being refreshing.  If you have eaten spicy food or had a big night on alcohol you will definitely benefit from these ideas.

  • Fatigue Anecdote - Athletes the world over love the joys of the lemon.  To get a boost of natural medicine they suck lemon juice by piecing the top of the lemon with a straw and this helps them to fend off fatigue.  Helping to calm the body during times of high stress.
Bush-walkers in the tropical rainforest areas use lemon juice to fight infections from bites etc. Lemon juice can be used as a thirst quencher being more effective than water for weight.  Adding a little bit of lemon juice is a way of overcoming the change in drinking water when you are away from home.  Alleviating tummy problems.
  • Eczema - Anything to give relief and help with the accompanying itch.    Add 8 drops of lemon essential oil to 1 cup (250ml) lukewarm water and 1 tablespoon (15ml) of liquid honey.
Honey also has anti-inflammatory effect and strengthens the healing power of lemon.

Soak a linen cloth in the liquid, squeeze out the excess, and gently place the cloth on the affected area for 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.  This will ease the infection, giving it time to heal while soothing the itch.

  • Corns and callused skin -  Place a slice of lemon approx 5 mm thick on to the corn, bandage and fasten. Dab the affected area with lemon essential oil also to speed up the healing process. Be very careful  with the use of undiluted oil on the callused area, use a cotton bud.   This solution is far too strong for any unaffected areas of skin.

  • Colds and Flu -
When you have a cold, the healing power of lemons works by supplying urgently required vitamin C to your immune system, and it is an astringent and so it dries up  mucous membranes in the nose and throat.
At soon as you feel a cold coming on  – a runny nose or sore throat – Consume as much immune system boosting vitamin C as you can so that the virus is eliminated before it gets a chance to take hold.
Drink the freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon in a glass of lukewarm water every 2 hours.
If you have a sore throat, add the juice of 1 lemon and 1 teaspoon (5ml) of sea salt to 1 cup (250ml) lukewarm water. Gargle three times a day for 1 minute to diminish the burning sensation.

If it’s a case of tonsillitis, gargle every 2 hours for at least 30 seconds with the freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon. Tilt the head back to allow the antibacterial and antiviral properties of the juice to flow into the back of the throat. You can swallow the juice when you have finished gargling thereby benefiting from an immune-boosting vitamin C shot.

Arrernte & Luritja Astronomy

IMG 9888 Uluru Dreaming 2012

Where is Arrernte & Luritja Country?

The Luritja lands include areas to the west and south of Alice Springs, extending around the edge of Arrernte country.

The area surrounding Papunya, including Mount Liebig is often referred to as Papunya Luritja, both in land and language, while areas to the south-east around Finke and Maryvale are often referred to as Titjikala Luritja (Maryvale is the name of the cattle station on Titjikala land).

The area around Ulpanyali and Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon) is also referred to as Luritja country and the dialect of Luritja spoken there is referred to as Southern Luritja (It's identical to Titjikala Luritja).

The variety of Luritja spoken at Kintore is often referred to as Pintupi/Luritja.

IMG 9878 Uluru Dreaming 2012

According to research, studies of Astronomical knowledge and symbolism in Australian Aboriginal Rock art was able to show that Indigenous Australians had a solid understanding of the astronomical realities of our planet and its place in the solar system far back into pre history  Australian Archaeology Association.

Arrernte & Luritja Astronomy

IMG 9926 Uluru Dreaming 2012

Maegraith (1932) collected Arrernte and Luritja astronomical knowledge during the expedition of the Board of Anthropology of the University of Adelaide in August of 1929.

Her informants were Arrernte and Luritja male elders from the town of Ntaria (Hermannsburg), near the border of Arrernte and Luritja country.

She interviewed each of the men separately between 8:00 and 11:00 pm, each time with a different interpreter, and only included information in the paper that were common to all of the accounts. Because of this, summer constellations (December-March), such as Orion and Taurus, were not included.

According to Maegraith (1932), the Arrernte and Luritja partition the night sky into two equal hemispheres, or "camps", one on the western side and the other on the eastern side of the Milky Way. The eastern hemisphere belongs to the Arrernte and the western half to the Luritja, while stars within the Milky Way incorporate both groups (see also Strehlow (1907) for a description of Arrernte and Luritja astronomical traditions).

Celestial names and stories are accounted to the various stars and celestial objects, with many stars serving as mnemonic devices or incorporated into class relationships and marriage classes. The Arrernte and Luritja distinguished stellar colours over stellar magnitude and did not generally apply a "connect-the-dots" approach to identifying constellations as did the Greeks, instead attributing single stars or clusters to individual objects or persons in particular songs or stories (Maegraith, 1932).

Much of this sky-knowledge is restricted to initiated males, although the women have their own knowledge of the stars (Maegraith claims that the boys are told the "truth" about the stars when they are initiated). These groups acknowledged the motions of the stars, both over the night and over the year, also noting circumpolar stars (stars that never set below the horizon).

While the papers by Maegraith and Strehlow reveal a treasuretrove of information regarding the sky-knowledge of Arrernte and Luritja cultures (as of 1932), it reveals little information about the role of meteors and meteorites. However, a review of the literature shows that meteors and meteorites played a significant role in the Dreamings and cosmology of these groups.
