Jarmbi, also of the Githabul nation stated:
“The Githabul are not against progress and jobs, but we want a future that gives our people long term sustainable employment for generations to come.
“As custodians of the land we want to move forward with jobs that protect country such as sustainable tourism, food production and renewable energy.
“We want our ancestral values at the forefront of our decision making, to ensure the protection of sacred sites and a continued connection between our people, country and culture.
“Our men and women are born with the legacy of custodianship of our homelands, and although it is made difficult by fences and corporate input, it is still our job to care for country.
