There are many who come to this fight with their own agenda's and reasons why and I know that my entire perspective on the situation is vastly different to the average joe out there. Not to matter. I want Santos gone yesterday. Below was in my email box and there is a link here to go and sign the petition and help with funds too if you can. We need to get elders to meetings urgently to meet with Santos in Five major towns out west!

Stop Santos Drilling for Coal Seam Gas - Wilderness Society
Dear friend
Across Australia fossil fuel companies are putting our precious environment in danger. Rogue fossil fuel companies are now focusing on unconventional resources - such as coal seam gas, shale gas and ultra deep-sea oil drilling - and using highly risky extraction methods - such as hydraulic fracturing (fracking) with harmful chemicals. This puts unique and important ecosystems, special places, water resources, local communities and our climate in danger.
Santos, an Australian oil and gas corporation, is increasingly putting the Australian environment and regional communities at great risk in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Santos' threats include:
- Destroying the Pilliga Forest - planning to drill up to 850 CSG wells throughout Eastern Australia's largest inland forest and surrounding farmlands - seriously risking the region's groundwater resources and the Great Artesian Basin. All despite strong local Aboriginal Traditional Owner and local community opposition.
- Playing an instrumental role in the removal of Wild Rivers protection for the Queensland Channel Country - river systems that are a vital source of water for the World Heritage-listed Lake Eyre wetlands. Santos want to frack for shale gas within these special river systems that our members, local Traditional Owners and pastoralists have fought hard to have protected.
- Joining with oil giants BP and Chevron to undertake deep sea drilling in the Great Australian Bight, putting one of the world's greatest whale sanctuaries and many species of whales, seals and other unique marine life at risk.
We can't trust our current governments to protect our environment or our communities unless there is overwhelming community pressure.
Therefore we need you to take up the fight to save our climate and nature.
We now need your help to replicate our past successes that stopped the Gunns Pulp Mill and the James Price Point gas plant. We know Santos shareholders are concerned by the coal seam gas fields planned across the Pilliga and rural NSW communities. Many Australians own shares in Santos - people who care about our environment and our communities and who want to see Santos doing the right thing. Can you help amplify and add to their voices to stop Santos from going rogue?
Here's how you can make a difference.
The first urgent task is to mobilise Santos shareholders by moving a resolution for a vote at Santos's 2014 Annual General Meeting, which will be held in May, to stop drilling in the Pilliga and drop the Narrabri Project.
You can read the full text of the proposed resolution here.
Are you a Santos shareholder with more that 500 shares? If so, please sign the resolution.
Can you help us find Santos shareholders who will sign the resolution by forwarding this message to your networks?
Can you help us fund Traditional Owner and local community attendance at Santos' AGM?
We need your help urgently as we need to file our resolution with 100 shareholder signatures by the middle of February.
Please let us know if you would like to hear more about the progress of this campaign. We will be running events in the lead up to the Santos AGM to help put the pressure on and would love your involvement as we progress!
Thanks so much for your help with this critical campaign,
Jess Lerch
