Intro:
Plenty will be said and written about this week’s swift action by Narrabri Shire Councillor Bevan O’Regan, who managed to block the Council’s attempt to evict protestors from two mining areas in NSW’s Leard and Piliga state forests.

The eviction was attempted on bushfire safety grounds, with Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Forestry NSW intervention labelled as politically motivated.

“As a council we have stooped to gutter politics in an attempt to achieve a desired result,” Cr O’Regan said. “The protestors at the camp are protesting in a passive manner. They have been there for about 17 months and have survived on donations of fuel from farmers, as well as water, firewood and groceries from the general public as they call in on their way to Boggabri to shop”.

“In my 31 years as councillor, I have not seen any attempt by the Narrabri Council to circumvent normal council procedure to achieve a political result as the actions that has surfaced in the last 48 hours.”

No Fibs is pleased to publish Rosemary Nankivell’s account of the man behind the last minute reprieve for the #Leardblockade.
There is a certain style of country bloke very much in the character of the heroes of A.B. (‘Banjo’) Paterson’s poetry.

They are simply spoken, clever and known to get the job done.

They have a deep love of the land and are keen judges of horseflesh and other stock. They are masters of understatement, usually possess a wicked sense of humour and have a questionable tolerance for the status quo. They also believe deeply in a fair go.

Bevan O’Regan is of this ilk.

As a child I competed many times in pony club events where Bevan, an active community member, was the President of the Narrabri Pony Club.

He was a stickler for rules, worked passionately at all levels and did many jobs others avoided.
IMG 5021

There was a generally feeling for those of us from competing clubs that Bevan was ‘the man’ – Mr Narrabri in fact. As such, we pony club members were keen to keep a distance.

Therefore, it was with trepidation that I found myself sitting alongside Bevan at a federal inquiry into the impacts of coal seam gas extraction in the Murray-Darling Basin, held within Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre forty years later.

Judging by the twinkle in his eye, he was clearly amused to see me there. However, as we both shared a love of the land and deep concerns about the impacts of the extractive industries on the water resources of this region, the day improved quickly.

One of his quotes – “an aquifer knows no boundaries” – has stayed with me ever since.

Narrabri, a pretty country town in a comfortable agricultural region, is experiencing the challenges of adapting to the development of coal and coal seam gas industries.

The power of mining interests, hand-in-hand with a compliant and largely unquestioning council, have resulted in the community losing its faith in due process and questioning the transparency of the council and its actions.

Many perceive Narrabri Council as a tool for the mining interests and, increasingly, as a vehicle for those council members with political aspirations.

It is not surprising, then, that at the recent council elections, Cr O’Regan won the majority of primary votes, far outpolling the sitting mayor.Councillors such as Bevan O’Regan, who are genuinely trying to serve the people, are a welcome change.

While the majority of the Christian world considers the concept of the Trinity vital to Christianity, many historians and Bible scholars agree that the Trinity of Christianity owes more to Greek philosophy and pagan polytheism than to the monotheism of the Jew and the Jewish Jesus.
Definition:

The word "Trinity" comes from the Latin noun "trinitas" meaning "three are one." The Trinity expresses the belief that God is one Being made up of three distinct Persons who exist in co-equal essence and co-eternal communion.

The best known trinity in todays modern western world  is the Christian Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit / Holy Mother.
But .....  there are others and this post may well get additions as we go along with our studies of ancient cultures of the many lands of this planet we live on and we act oblivious to most of this wisdom contained and hidden for only the eyes that that can see it.

Egyptian trinities - Osiris   Isis   Horus

Ammun  - Ra (his face), Ptah (his body),   Amun (hidden identity)

Babylonian  - Nimrod (father),     Tamuz (son),    Serememous (mother),

Sumerian trinity - Anu (the father,)  Enlil (wind god of Earth), Enki (wisdom)

Etruscans -  Tinia,   Uni,   Menerva

Greek  - Hecate,  Persephone,  and Selene

Asian Teachings - x 3  - Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism

Anu was the primary god of heaven, the ‘Father’, and the ‘King of the Gods’; Enlil, the ‘wind-god’ was the god of the earth, and a creator god; Enki was the god of waters and the ‘lord of wisdom’
Jamaica -  Holy Emmanuel, I Selassie I,  Jah Rastafari.  ( going to do a separate one on these guys because their take is very interesting, especially the retension of the astrological side of things and their use of cannibus and the fact they hate ISM's

Greek Magical Papyri

IMG 7040
The Sun Invokes Health in Humanity - Dawn at my place.
"Triple-sounding, triple-headed, triple-voiced..., triple-pointed, triple-faced, triple-necked" is how the goddess (called Hecate, Persephone, and Selene, among other names) in the Spells and hymns in  the Greek magical papyri

In one hymn, for instance, the "Three-faced Selene" is simultaneously identified as the three Charites, the three Moirai, and the three Erinyes; she is further addressed by the titles of several goddesses.

Translation editor Hans Dieter Betz notes:
"The goddess Hekate, identical with Persephone, Selene, Artemis, and the old Babylonian goddess Ereschigal, is one of the deities most often invoked in the papyri."
The Greek Magical Papyri (Latin Papyri Graecae Magicae, abbreviated PGM) is the name given by scholars to a body of papyri from Graeco-Roman Egypt, which each contain a number of magical spells, formulae, hymns and rituals.

The materials in the papyri date from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD.The manuscripts came to light through the antiquities trade, from the 18th century onwards. One of the best known of these texts is the so-called Mithras Liturgy

The texts were published in a series, and individual texts are referenced using the abbreviation PGM plus the volume and item number. Each volume contains a number of spells and rituals. Further discoveries of similar texts from elsewhere have been allocated PGM numbers for convenience.

 Discovery

The first papyri in the series appeared on the art market in Egypt in the early 19th century. The major portion of the collection is the so-called Anastasi collection.

About half a dozen of the papyri were purchased in about 1827 by a man calling himself Jean d'Anastasi, who may have been Armenian, and was a diplomatic representative at the Khedivial court in Alexandria.

He asserted that he obtained them at Thebes (modern Luxor), and he sold them to various major European collections including the British Museum, the Louvre, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Staatliche Museen in Berlin and the Rijksmuseum in Leiden. H. D. Betz who edited a translation of the collection states that these pieces probably came from the library of an ancient scholar and collector of late antiquity based in Thebes.

Anastasi acquired a great number of other papyri and antiquities as well. The "Thebes Cache" also contained the Stockholm papyrus and Leyden papyrus X containing alchemical texts. Another papyrus (PGM III) was acquired by Jean Francois Mimaut and ended up in the French Bibliothèque Nationale.

PGM XII and XIII were the first to be published, appearing in 1843 in Greek and in a Latin translation in 1885.

In the early twentieth century Karl Preisendanz collected the texts and published them in two volumes in 1928 and 1931. A projected third volume, containing new texts and indices, reached the stage of galley proofs dated "Pentecost 1941", but the type was destroyed during the bombing of Leipzig in the Second World War.

Photocopies of the proofs circulated among scholars. A revised and expanded edition of the texts was published in 1973-4 in two volumes. Volume 1 was a corrected version of the first edition volume 1, but volume 2 was entirely revised and the papyri originally planned for vol. III were included.

IMG 3142 Full Blue Moon
The Moon Goddess - Selene
The indexes were omitted, however. The PGM can now be searched in the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae database and various concordances and dictionaries have been published. The most recent addition was the book Abrasax, published by Nephilim Press in 2012.

Many of these pieces of papyrus are pages or fragmentary extracts from spell books, repositories of arcane knowledge and mystical secrets.

As far as they have been reconstructed, these books appear to fall into two broad categories:
Some are compilations of spells and magical writings, gathered by scholarly collectors either out of academic interest or for some kind of study of magic; others may have been the working manuals of travelling magicians, containing their repertoire of spells, formulae for all occasions.

These often poorly educated magic-users were more like showmen than the traditional Egyptian wizards, who were a highly educated and respected priestly elite.

The pages contain spells, recipes, formulae and prayers, interspersed with magic words and often in shorthand, with abbreviations for the more common formulae.

These spells range from impressive and mystical summonings of dark gods and daemons, to folk remedies and even parlour tricks; from portentous, fatal curses, to love charms, cures for impotence and minor medical complaints.

English: hecate with dog
English: hecate with dog (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

In many cases the formulaic words and phrases are strikingly similar to those found in defixiones (curse tablets or binding spells, κατάδεσμοι in Greek), such as those we find inscribed on ostraka, amulets and lead tablets.

Since some of these defixiones date from as early as the sixth century BC, and have been found as far afield as Athens, Asia Minor, Rome and Sicily (as well as Egypt), this provides a degree of continuity and suggests that some observations based on the PGM will not be altogether inapplicable to the study of the wider Greco-Roman world.

Throughout the spells found in the Greek Magical Papyri, there are numerous references to figurines. They are found in various types of spells, including judicial, erotic and just standard cursing that one might associate with Haitian voodoo (“Vodou”).

The figurines are made of various materials, usually corresponding to the type of spell, but often with liminal properties, as is frequent in a number of elements of Greek Magic.

Such figurines have been found “throughout the Mediterranean basin”, usually in places that the ancient Greeks associated with the underworld; “graves, sanctuaries or bodies of water”, all stressing the liminality of Greek magic. Some have been discovered in lead coffins, upon which the spell or curse has been inscribed.

The religion of the Papyri Graecae Magicae is an elaborate syncretism of Greek, Egyptian, Jewish (see Jewish magical papyri), and even Babylonian and Christian religious influences engendered by the unique milieu of Greco-Roman Egypt.

This syncretism is evident in the Papyri in a variety of ways. Often the Olympians are given attributes of their Egyptian counterparts; alternatively this could be seen as Egyptian deities being referred to by Greek names.
For example Aphrodite (who was associated with the Egyptian Hathor), is given the epithet Neferihri—from the Egyptian Nfr-iry.t, "nice eyes" (PGM IV. 1266).

Within this profusion of cultural influences can still be seen classical Greek material, and perhaps even aspects of a more accessible "folk-religion" than those preserved in the mainstream literary texts.
Sometimes the Greek gods depart from their traditional Olympian natures familiar to Classicists, and seem far more chronic, demonic and bestial.

This is partly the influence of Egyptian religion, in which beast cult and the terror of the divine were familiar elements; equally the context of magical texts makes such sinister deities appropriate.

Gloucester Milk Experiment

By Mark Anning  From Lock the State

The Gloucester Milk Experiment

Is Fracking Produced Water Safe in Our Milk?

Despite bans in the USA and New Zealand on fracking produced water having contact with cattle, AGL's irrigation trial at Gloucester NSW is providing fodder grown with fracking waste water to feed dairy and beef cattle.

The gas company is self assessing the experiment, reporting six months later, even though the fodder is being used in the human food chain. AGL has fallen foul of the EPA for failing to report at regular intervals already.

In June 2013, New Zealand dairy cooperative Fonterra vowed to no longer accept milk from from dairy suppliers where fracking waste has been spread.
In Pennsylvania, USA, cattle that came in contact with natural gas (methane) drilling wastewater were quarantined. The US Department of Agriculture said "drilling wastewater has high salinity levels, but it also contains dangerous chemicals and metals."

On 11 December 2013 Claire Miller, Manager, Policy Strategy, Dairy Australia returned our call and denied that any fodder had been grown with frack water (contrary to AGL's press releases). Ms Miller repeatedly said "if there are any issues, take it up with the EPA and the regulatory authorities". She did not seem happy to be answering questions about the possible contamination of milk.

Photo of Devondale gas/dairy farmer Mark Harris' farm, 2013-12-13, Ian Barbour.
Devondale deny that Mark Harris is one of their famers.

Environmentalist of the Year, Drew Hutton has raised concerns about the Gloucester milk experiment.
"An AGL report on an irrigation trial at Gloucester using CSG water fails to report concentrations and volumes of radioactive, heavy metal and other contaminants including arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobolt, lead, lithium, mercury, nickel, selenium, radium 226, radium 228, uranium 238, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and other volatile organic compounds" .
"Not only have concerns of the NSW EPA about the poor quality of irrigation water drawn from coal seams been ignored, the government has not even required the company to list the full range of contaminants recommended under the national guideline."

On 2 December 2013, AGL replied "the chemicals listed by the Alliance were naturally occurring" though they failed to mention that these chemicals were both being brought up and added to the gas well during the drilling process.
Brushing aside any concern that contaminated milk could be on the supermarket shelves already, AGL said: "These are guidelines not regulations. However, we are bound by and comply with, our water management plan which was approved by the NSW Office of Coal Seam Gas."

AGL misrepresents LTG article & seeks to confuse the issue

The Lock The Gate article referred to testing on-site soil directly irrigated with CSG water (as reported in Fodder King report, Aug 2013).

The AGL response in the Gloucester Advocate is about water bodies at various distances away from the irrigated soil (refers to Parsons Brinkerhoff report, Aug 2013, i.e. measuring indirect contamination).

Source of water unclear - no audit trail

There is no clear audit trail to confirm whether the water source has come from fractured or un fractured coal seams.
Limited reporting re contaminants

It is clear from Tables 2.7, 3.1, 4.1 & 5.1 in the Parsons Brinkerhoff report that there has been no testing for a range of contaminants normally found in CSG water and which are of concern for irrigation of crops.

For instance, the analytical suite (Table 2.7) does not include Chromium, Cyanide or radioactive contaminants such as Uranium or Radium.

If this produce is to be fed to beef cattle or milking cows, there is a high element of risk with contaminated fodder and contaminants ending up in human food. AGL would be negligent not to test for these relevant contaminants.

The ANZECC guide should be used as a starting point, but remembering that the guidelines were written for irrigation water in 2000 - i.e. prior to CSG and fracking.

Time period of trial is limited

The AGL trial (Stage 1A area) began in April 2013. Thus only a short period of time for build-up of contaminants in soil - we would expect to see greater concentrations over a 12 month (or longer-term) irrigation trial. It is less likely we'd detect elevated contaminants in nearby water bodies at this stage, as there's been little time for soil leaching processes or overland flow from storm events.

However, looking at the seepages bores, we find quite revealing information. The seepage bores (which are presumably the closest water monitoring sites to the soil being irrigated) are, at this early stage, detecting changes in salinity (refer to p16).

Limitations of Parsons Brinkerhoff report
The report is limited to the scope set by AGL. Parsons Brinkerhoff assumes no responsibility, and tells the reader to make their own enquiries (see p 32).

Diary Australia and Devondale were contacted for comment.  Devondale denied that Mark Harris was one of their farmers, even though he was one of their supplier signs on his gate. We're still waiting for a call back from someone at devondale who is prepared to comment officially.

On 11 December 2013 Claire Miller, Manager, Policy Strategy, Dairy Australia returned our call, said she had spoken to dairy farmer Mark Harris, denied that any fodder had been grown with frack water (contrary to AGL's press releases)and said "if there are any issues, take it up with the EPA and the regulatory authorities". She did not seem happy to be answering questions about the possible contamination of milk.

New South Wales Farmers Associations Dairy Committee

In his submission to the 2011 NSW Parliament Inquiry into Coal Seam Gas, Patrick Neal, Member, New South Wales Farmers Associations Dairy Committee, said under oath:

"There is simply no way for us to be confident that pollutants going to and from the coal seam will not make their way into the water and in turn into our livestock and the food chain."
"This area is perfect for dairying. It has the rainfall to grow the feed we require, the infrastructure and enough producers around to sustain the processing plants and the services we need to run our business."

"I have serious doubts about whether we can operate alongside the coal seam gas industry."
"I guess I focused before on drinking water for stock but there is also irrigation. When I use chemical fertilisers I like to reassure myself of the heavy metals in the fertilisers to make sure I am not overexposing my soil to these heavy metals.

"A big concern for me is worrying about what is in the chemicals that these people are using."
"If heavy metals are irrigated onto pastures and taken up by the grass that is then ingested by cows, or if it goes into the drinking water, then into stock via the water, and then into produce for humans, a lot of the farms will become unviable. There are regulations on how much, for example, lead or other heavy metals are allowed to be ingested by cows and then into milk."

Call on diary farmers receiving the Tiedmans Property fodder to be tested

The Lock the Gate Alliance has accused the coal seam gas industry of failing to test for a range of contaminants that could be expected to be found in produced water from coal seams and produced water from hydraulic fracturing.

Section 4.2.6 of the National Water Quality Guidelines (ANZECC 2000) contains long-term and short-term trigger value concentrations for heavy metals and metalloids in irrigation water and Section 4.2.9 contains trigger values for the radioactive quality of irrigation water, but Lock the
Gate says many of these dangerous substances are not tested for, or test results are not
 released publicly.

An AGL report, for example, on an irrigation trial at Gloucester using CSG water fails to report
concentrations and volumes of radioactive, heavy metal and other contaminants including:
arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobolt, lead, lithium, mercury, nickel, selenium, radium
226, radium 228, uranium 238, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and other volatile
 organic compounds.
Lock the Gate Alliance president, Drew Hutton, said this was a further sidelining of environmental regulation in New South Wales, and is putting communities at risk.
“Not only have concerns of the New South Wales EPA about the poor quality of irrigation water drawn from coal seams been ignored, the government has not even required the company to list the full range of contaminants recommended under the National Guideline," Mr Hutton said.

“Santos has done the same thing in its report on groundwater quality from the Hoskisson coal seam in the Gunnedah Basin, leaving out heavy metals, volatile organic compounds and
radioactive substances.
“Why is the NSW government allowing both AGL and Santos to go ahead with work at Gloucester and in the Pilliga state forest when they are so prepared to blithely ignore environmental regulations and to keep crucial information from the people of New South Wales?” Mr Hutton said.

"Produced water is not being used directly on crops in the current AGL irrigation trial. Blended water is what is being used in the trial, and this is about three parts fresh water to one part produced water," the AGL pirate spokeswoman said.
Please note the definitions according to AGL: "produced water" is called "blended water" when diluted 1:4 - even though the amount of chemicals is still the same.

Cattle farmers and diary consumers should be concerned at the lack of data

AGL's wastewater irrigation trial report (Aug 2013) fails to address the National Water Quality Guidelines ANZECC for irrigation,  does not reference National Water Quality guidelines, and does not include a microbial count
AGL's management plan does not mention the water values for:
radioactive contaminants, radium, arsenic, cyanide, lead, radium, chromium, mercury, and uranium. p.11

Radioactive contaminants, and heavy metals can transfer into dairy cattle (body cells and milk), so can Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

Waukivory Pilot fracking fluid contains 850l Hydrochloric acid + 450l Bactericide THPS potential formaldehyde releaser AppD, p12

135 bales of fodder could threaten the whole NSW diary industry

Is it worth the risk while coal seam gas fracker AGL does their experiment?
All dairy businesses in Australia are required, since October 2008, to comply with the primary production and processing standard for dairy, contained in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (ANZFS Code).

Mark Paterson, the Director-General, NSW Trade & Investment sent a letter to  the Sydney Morning Herald responding to an article on AGL’s irrigation trial at Gloucester. The letter is outlined below.

‘The article on AGL’s irrigation trial at Gloucester did not include the fact the issues raised by the Environment Protection Authority in its submission to my department in April 2012 were addressed before the trial was approved. All submissions were thoroughly examined and further information sought from AGL before approval was given. The EPA’s submission guided the approval conditions applied to mitigate environmental risk.’

Mark Paterson, Director-General, NSW Trade & Investment

The Sydney Morning Herald responded by renaming the EPA the Backside Protection Agency because AGL are doing their own monitoring of the Gloucester Milk Experiment - there is no independent monitoring

Even after the New Zealand ban, a Fonterra inquiry found that 150,000 litres of milk in 14 tankers was contaminated with suspected mining waste in October 2013. Dairy farmers and the Taranaki Regional Council told Radio New Zealand they believe it was waste from fracking wells that got into Fonterra's tankers.

In Pennsylvania, the Department of Agriculture quarantined cattle from a Tioga County farm after a number of cows came into contact with drilling waste-water from a nearby natural gas operation.

Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding said uncertainty over the quantity of wastewater the cattle may have consumed warranted the quarantine in order to protect the public from eating potentially contaminated beef.

“Drilling wastewater has high salinity levels, but it also contains dangerous chemicals and metals,” said Redding.

"We took this precaution in order to protect the public from consuming any of this potentially contaminated product should it be marketed for human consumption."
The US Department of Agriculture article mentions "the main element of concern is the heavy metal strontium, which can be toxic to humans, especially in growing children."

Subsequent tests of the waste-water found that it contained chloride, iron, sulfate, barium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, strontium and calcium.

Redding said the main element of concern is the heavy metal strontium, which can be toxic to humans, especially in growing children.

The metal takes a long time to pass through an animal’s system because it is preferentially deposited in bone and released in the body at varying rates, dependent on age, growth status and other factors.

The secretary also added that the quarantine will follow the recommended guidelines from the Food Animal Residue Avoidance and Depletion Program, as follows:

• Adult animals: hold from food chain for 6 months.
• Calves exposed in utero: hold from food chain for 8 months.
• Growing calves: hold from food chain for 2 years.

In response to the leak, the Department of Environmental Protection issued a notice of violation to East Resources Inc. and required further sampling and site remediation.

DEP is evaluating the final cleanup report and is continuing its investigation of operations at the drilling site, as well as the circumstances surrounding the leaking holding pond.

Did you know that raw coal seam gas produced water is to be renamed as "Beneficial Waste" then added to compost to spread on soil? Nugrow are proposing this in Kogan.

Local farmers are concerned that they must pay for a water license to grow fodder, and here is a huge corporation who get their water for free, and set up business in competition.
___________________________________________

Locals and water experts claim there is a need for baseline studies to establish the existing quality of water before AGL undertakes more fracking.
Gloucester Council, downstream Taree Council and MidCoast Water all want these baselines studies.

Despite all this, AGL still claim they are "listening to the community"

Special Womans Place near Woolgoolga - Mary's Waterhole

IMG 7000

I get a lot of messages but this sort of message is the kind I love to get in my inbox, I only hope I can assist.

I received this message from a lovely lady in Woolgoolga whose name is Emma.  This is what she wrote me :

Hello Mary-Ellen, You don't know me but I have been searching around the internet trying to get some help. I contacted a lady called Adele who directed me to you.

I am not Aboriginal but I do have a great love and respect for the people of this land. My elderly neighbour (83) took us to a place just behind our house in Woolgoolga and told us of this beautiful ceremony that he remembered as a boy.

It is a place the white locals dubbed Mary's Waterhole. Mary. the last in a very long line of women, used to take the soon-to-be mothers to this spring on the very top of the highest hill and bathe and sing to them and the child to give them an easy birth.

What a beautiful process. About 50 years ago some complete moron put a stick of dynamite into the spring in the hope of bringing up more water.

Of course it had the opposite effect and the pool in now reduced to a muddy puddle. But the spirit still remains in this place and I fear that no one lives to remember this any more.

I don't want it to disappear from peoples minds so I am trying to find an indigenous women's group who will "adopt" this site or... well I am not sure what. I simply don't want this history to be lost.

Anyway I hope you can help and if not I am sorry for bothering you.

Warm regards
Emma
Of course this isn't a bother.  It is an honor for me to be able to pass this information on to the right people.   I will look for the right person to contact and we will action this as soon as possible.

I agree with Emma, I do not want any of these places to disappear forever.  Although in the spirit world they are all still there and this cannot ever be taken by anyone other than the great creator.

Mary's Waterhole sounds like such a lovely name too.  I cannot wait to find out more history about this from where ever I can gather this from.

AVANT GARDENER - Courtney Barnett

AVANT GARDENER
I sleep in late
Another day
Oh what a wonder
Oh what a waste.
It’s a monday
It’s so mundane
What exciting things
Will happen today?
The yard is full of hard rubbish it’s a mess and
I guess the neighbours must think we run a meth lab
We should ammend that
I pull the sheets back
It’s 40 degrees
And i feel like i’m dying.
Life’s getting hard in here
So i do some gardening
Anything to take my mind away from where it’s sposed to be.
The nice lady next door talks of green beds
And all the nice things that she wants to plant in them
I wanna grow tomatoes on the front steps.
Sunflowers, bean sprouts, sweet corn and radishes.
I feel pro-active
I pull out weeds
All of a sudden
I’m having trouble breathing in.
My hands are shaky
My knees are weak
I can’t seem to stand
On my own two feet
I’m breathing but i’m wheezing
Feel like i’m emphysem-in’
My throat feels like a funnel
Filled with weet bix and kerosene and
Oh no, next thing i know
They call up triple o
I’d rather die than owe the hospital
Till I get old
I get adrenalin
Straight to the heart
I feel like Uma Thurman
Post-overdosing kick start
Reminds me of the time
When i was really sick and i
Had too much psuedoefedryn and i
Couldn’t sleep at night
Halfway down high street, andy looks ambivalent
He’s probably wondering what i’m doing getting in an ambulance
The paramedic thinks i’m clever cos i play guitar
I think she’s clever cos she stops people dying
Anaphylactic and super hypocondriactic
Should’ve stayed in bed today
I much prefer the mundane.
I take a hit from
An asthma puffer
I do it wrong
I was never good at smoking bongs.
I’m not that good at breathing in.

13-year-old inventor cracks the secret of trees to revolutionize solar energy

 http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/solarr.jpg

A 13-year-old boy named Aidan Dwyer has an idea that can vastly improve solar energy technology. His idea is so revolutionary that it might make flat panel solar designs extinct.
Aidan discovered a spiral mathematical formula in trees based on the Fibonacci sequence. When he recognized this design in the placement of tree branches, he began applying the secret knowledge to solar panel designs. His discovery could maximize solar panel sunlight collection in new, efficient ways.

Discovering a pattern in tree trunks

On a winter hiking trip, Aidan noticed something unique about tree branches. After collecting photographs of various trees, he began to see a pattern among the random display of branches and leaves. Aidan realized that the overall branch pattern of trees resembled a spiral. Furthermore, he found a mathematical pattern behind the spiral of branches. To investigate further, he began building test models.

Using the Fibonacci sequence to maximize sunlight collection

Upon investigating, Aidan discovered a pattern based on a number sequence invented by medieval mathematician Fibonacci. Fibonacci discovered a pattern when experimenting with a math puzzle. Through solving a problem about the rate at which rabbits reproduce over time, Fibonacci invented a sequence of numbers. Fibonacci invented a mathematical pattern, starting with zero and one. By adding two numbers to the series together, the new sum became the next number in the sequence. This sequence starts out with the numbers 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 and 21.
This Fibonacci sequence and its ratios appear in nature, in many forms of life. According to Aidan, examples of this pattern can be found in the seeds of a sunflower, systems of the human body and even galaxies in space.
Aidan found that tree trunks contain similar patterns based on the Fibonacci sequence.
According to Aidan, “Tree branches follow a Fibonacci formula.” He reports that, in an oak tree, branches are arranged in a two to five sequence. “Five branches spiral around the trunk two times to reach the same starting point on the trunk,” he reports.
The patterns that he found also include the elm tree, which follows a one to two pattern, and the beech tree, which follows a one to three pattern. He found a three to eight pattern in the willow tree and a five to one pattern in the branch arrangement of almond trees.

Using the spiral pattern for maximum efficiency in solar panel technology

In trying to understand the meaning behind the pattern, Aidan hypothesized that the main goal of the leaves is to collect maximum sunlight for photosynthesis.
To test this hypothesis, Aidan created mini tree models with sunlight-collecting solar panels. He arranged the mini panels in a spiral pattern based on the Fibonacci sequence design he observed in the trees.
Logging data on voltage and current, Aidan ran tests on the spiral design and on a flat panel design for several months. Click here to view his models.
He found out that the Fibonacci solar panel design was extremely more efficient than flat panel designs. The spiral patterns collect, on average, 20 percent more open current voltage and absorbs 2.5 more hours of sunlight per day.
Even more exciting were his results during the winter solstice when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky. During this time, the Fibonacci design collected 50 percent more sunlight than flat panel designs!
“My results suggest that the Fibonacci pattern can improve solar panel arrays in several ways. It collects more sunlight when the sun is at a low angle in the sky. This is useful during winter months and in extreme latitudes,” Aidan explained.
He mentioned other benefits of the spiral design, saying that it will take up less room in urban areas, where space is limited. He also believes that the design would not collect as much rain and snow and be more weather-resistant than rooftop flat panel design
