How safe is anything anymore?

A leading geologist is warning that BHP's long-wall mines are damaging Sydney's water catchment zones reducing the drinking water available for nearly a million people.

Beautiful places in the Hunter Valley just north of there is also suffering the same fate with large fissures appearing in rocks where there were not large fissures like this before and the locals are saying it is the mining that has caused this because of the water. http://www.theherald.com.au/story/1735241/mine-subsidence-devastates-sugarloaf-video-photos/?cs=305
