Woolworths Palm Oil Easter Buns

Photo: ATTENTION!! Another Easter favourite found to contain palm oil! Woolworths hot cross buns (both regular and fruitless) contain palm oil, a product causing widespread deforestation of rainforest in South East Asia. Please refrain from purchasing hot cross buns from Woolworths this Easter. This is yet another reminder to check the labelling of products before purchasing. Please share this photo to spread the word. *Note: Drakes supermarkets (Foodland) hot cross buns also have vegetable oil listed in their ingredients. Investigations are currently being conducted to determine if this vegetable oil is also palm oil so stay tuned for more information in the next few days.
Today the social media has been doing a great job of alerting unsuspecting shoppers who have a conscience about the environment and a heart for animals that the Woolworth's Easter Buns contain PALM OIL.

Palm Oil receives very bad press because forests where Orangutangs habitat is located are being cut down in Indonesia at a mad rate to grow the palms for this suspect oil.  Large companies purchase this oil very cheaply and it is used widely in processed food now the world over.

The serousness of this type of inclusion by Woolworths is they risk not selling their buns,  unless they change the recipe and source their oil not from palms.

Woolworth's called me back on the Telephone and I told the young man in clear terms that the public demanded better for their money. I said you source another oil and run a test case at your busiest store with clear labeling that the EASTER BUNS were PALM OIL FREE and see what happens.
